There’s a reason that Gov. Cuomo, Emmy-winning TV star and best-selling leader of the fight against the coronavirus, has abruptly gone dark.
Actually, there are a few reasons.
The fatal moment, politically speaking, probably wasn’t Cuomo’s decision last March — when it looked like the hospital system here could collapse like it had in Italy — to require nursing homes to take medically stable patients back in from hospitals without testing them for COVID and to give both nursing homes and hospitals a legal shield. It’s his refusal, nearly a year later, to acknowledge the literally fatal consequences of that decision.
Last month, Attorney General Letitia James released a devastating report estimating that the number of deaths of nursing home residents in hospitals was 50% greater than the state had previously acknowledged, forcing Cuomo’s health commissioner to finally disclose 4,000 additional deaths tied to nursing homes.
Cuomo shrugged, arguing that since we already knew how many total people had died, the breakdown he’d concealed for nearly a year was a mere detail:
“Who cares [if they] died in the hospital, died in a nursing home? They died.”
That was remarkably callous, more so because he’d had so long to prepare his answer. But Cuomo simply isn’t built to admit a mistake.
Then came his chief aide Melissa DeRosa’s blackmail-attempt-turned-confession on a conference call with Democratic lawmakers two weeks ago. That’s where she told them that the administration hadn’t turned over the coronavirus-related nursing home death numbers they’d been asking for since last spring because Trump’s Justice Department had asked for the same numbers last summer.

Heels Up is already in charge. Her puppet masters don’t want to act too soon on that. It’s all about optics, don’t you know.
This is just setting up Letitia James. She’ll take out the Governor and she’s trying to take out President Trump. She thinks that she’s pumping up her base by doing so. With Cuomo, yes? He should have already been taken into custody on Manslaughter charges, at the very least.

The people he killed are still voting, so where’s the harm?
Missing? Or did he “go to the mattresses”?
Sure, ten years down the road the media will make Cuomo a loveable older statesman.
Right now, they've decided he's expendable and they want him out of the way, and sooner rather than later.
If Cuomo can some how survive politically on his own it's fine with them, but you have to decide which battles to fight and at this point, this one isn't worth it for the Democrats and their media allies.

The media used Cuomo as a contrast to Trump in the early days of COVID to bludgeon Trump, they knew everything about him even then, but chose to use him to bash Trump.
I can see that, plus being assured that his financially collapsing state would be bailed out if the Dems won. Same for all the other state governors.
And now that the Party has the power, they’re discovering the honesty of those “promises”....

Roses have thorns. Republicans are waking up and learning that they still do have a pair.

The hospital ships were there to take non-Covid patients. The ships are too difficult to disinfect but they would free up brick-and-mortar hospital beds. That almost all elective/non-Covid hospitalizations were canceled means that they went mostly unused.
At least, that’s what I heard at the time.
Suburban counties surrounding NYC will continue to be basket cases as long as folks keep supporting police officers pullling $100Gs and school administrators in increasingly mediocre to poor districts earning $200Gs in increasing cases.

You’re right. The ‘elites’ in charge are NOT telling their boys in the press to ignore Cuomo.
I’m not sure why he’s not getting the usual protection - might be an interesting story behind that... But again - you’re analysis is right: Cuomo’s on his own.
They have fake news, fake heroes, fake crises, fake solutions, fake villains, fake victims, fake everything. They live in a house of cards, and it’s high time that a light breeze blew it all down.
No need for an armed insurrection. No need even for Trump, though he’s great and wonderful. But he can’t beat them all, though he certainly beat enough of them, made them scared of their own shadows.
All that’s needed is a light breeze. It’s coming from on high.

I agree with you. No way this story has any legs in the MSM unless some powerful Democrats want to take Cuomo down.
