China's Military is Catching Up Fast and It's Too Late To Stop Them

The United States has become increasingly aggressive about slowing down or halting China’s industrial espionage efforts. But that ship has sailed.

ere's What You Need To Remember: But given the extensive commercial contacts between China and the United States, stopping the flow of technology is virtually impossible.

As the People’s Republic of China (PRC) emerged from war and revolution in 1949, it became apparent that the Chinese economy lacked the capacity to compete with the U.S. or the U.S.S.R. in the production of advanced military technology. Transfers from the Soviet Union helped remedy the gap in the 1950s, as did transfers from the United States and Europe in the 1970s and 1980s. Still, the Cultural Revolution stifled technology and scientific research, leaving the Chinese even farther behind.

Thus, China has long supplemented legitimate transfers and domestic innovation with industrial espionage. In short, the PRC has a well-established habit of pilfering weapons technology from Russia and the United States. As the years have gone by, Beijing’s spies have become ever more skillful and flexible in their approach. Here are five systems that the Chinese have stolen or copied, in whole or in part:

J-7:

In 1961, as tensions between the USSR and the PRC reached a fever pitch, the Soviets transferred blueprints and materials associated with its new MiG-21 interceptor to China. The offering represented an effort to bridge part of the gap, and suggest to China that cooperation between the Communist giants remained possible.

Nationalinterest wouldn’t be happy unless we were spending our entire GDP on the military.

Sheer panic peddling.

We all need to stop buying goods made in China - do some research, buy American Made goods - start with higher priced items and things you frequently purchase.

The country we save will be our own

"The United States has become increasingly aggressive about slowing down or halting China’s industrial espionage efforts."

Bull. Trump tried, the people support him but the most of the government and many business undercut those efforts at every turn. If they truly wanted to stop it, it would have been done a long time ago.

Americans are positively myopic. It's in our DNA. We knowingly funded expansion of the chink's military might simply so that we could save a dime on kid's flip flops.

After 9/11, our national slogan was "Never Forget!" That lasted about three weeks.

Now we've degenerated into the Eloi, waiting to meet the Morlocks.

Good luck with that, China already controls most things in the U.S.

Not true if you look around - I built and rebuilt 17 houses in the past 7 years, most of the items are not made in China, I made a point of checking first and then finding alternatives even if they were more expensive.

After China’s performance during the border clashes with India they look pretty awful. It’s been a long time but China got utterly trounced in its last military expedition, against Vietnam.

The biggest current worry is the threat against Taiwan. Carrying out a seaborne invasion is the most difficult and risky operation imaginable. Even with China’s greater numbers it’s doubtful they could successfully invade Taiwan. It’s not like Taiwan has 3rd rate forces in place like the Germans did at Normandy. And that was a near thing.

I’m pretty sure that the natural gas, gasoline and Diesel I buy is ‘merican or Canadian.

Food too [Mandarin Oranges not withstanding].

Likely the Big Pharma drugs Big Medicine makes my buy too.

Next up is [forced] purchases of Government. They all seem to be pretty much ‘merican [though heavily leftist].

Block brick, plywood sheeting, windows and doors of course not. But nearly 100% of electrical and plumbing components and otyer assorted hardware are made in China...especially tools. Even Craftsman tools are nearly all made in China same with Kobalt, Black and Decker, Milwaukee and Dewault

I believe Dewalt tools are made in the US, although I don’t often replace tools.

all lumber, sheetrock, wood floors, doors, paint, siding, pvc trim windows, roofing, wood trim, appliances, and when I can cabinets - if not the ones I use are made in Vietnam.

I do the best I can researching products, some are just not made here.

Every dollar I can take away from China to give back to the US counts. Imagine if all Americans took the time to spend their money wisely.

I don’t think they are catching up as much as we are just falling to lower standards. Had we the civilian and military leadership of the WWII era, Islam would have ceased being a world wide threat six months after 9/11. Yet here we are twenty years later still allowing 7th century savages to run rampant. The Chinese single mindedness and coherence of their national strategy is going to prove a formidable match for our gender confused and neutered society.

Most pharmaceuticals in the U.S. are made in either China or India. Virtually all our antibiotics are made in China.
