President Joe Biden signed an executive order on Feb. 24 to bolster the resilience of supply chains for four critical industries following a slew of recent production shortages that have left the United States vulnerable.
The executive order will begin a 100-day review of semiconductor chips, pharmaceuticals, rare-earth minerals, and large-capacity batteries used in electric vehicles.
While White House officials on Feb. 23 said the action doesn’t target any one country, it will direct the United States to diversify its supply chain reliance on China—one of the dominant players in the rare-earth and pharmaceutical fields.
The measures come at a time when the pandemic has put a strain on the availability of personal protective equipment essential to frontline health workers, and a shortage of computer chips has forced automakers to cut production, highlighting the need for reshoring supply chains.
The order will also call for a comprehensive one-year review of six key sectors, covering areas of defense, public health, communications technology, transportation, energy, and food production.
“This is about making sure the United States can meet every challenge we face in this new era: pandemics, but also in defense, cybersecurity, climate change, and so much more,” Biden said before signing the order. He added that the best way to achieve that is by “sharpening America’s competitive edge by investing here at home.”
The “horror stories” of health care workers having to wear trash bags and rewashing their masks for lack of proper gear at the onset of the pandemic “should have never happened, and it will never happen again in the United States, period,” he said.

Trump was acting on his plan to entice US manufacturers of all the items on Biden’s list back to US soil with tax incentives and somehow Joe thinks that this is not part of “fortifying” the logistics chain?

Every time an American looked at an item for where it was made in it came from China. Now China’s reliance making everything was being threatened by a change in leadership in America which was a major consumer of those products. Worse yet opponents to the Chinese regime in power had its citizens protesting its policies , as in Hong Kong, since that change in American leadership wave the American flag and present Trump’s name when doing so. All of which presented those in power the need to destroy that leader Donald Trump.
Would a runaway plague created by a nation which could threaten populations of an enemy cause them to react by demanding extreme restriction of movement by its population to prevent its spread ? Thus wind up fragmenting its economy and create defeat for that leader’s upcoming election.When they released it that was the CCP intention but it got away from them and went world wide

Four critical industries: reproductive health care (a.k.a as abortion), gender re-assignment surgical services, hip-hop entertainment industry, and mass media.
All it can do is direct departments under executive control to eliminate supply chains that are unreliable or vulnerable to foreign adversaries. This one was a bit of a surprise, but it does not affect private hospitals which make up the bulk of the US healthcare system.
