HONOLULU (AP) - A new class of U.S. Navy vessel is expected to be deployed for the first time in Hawaii as part of a sweeping force redesign.

I’m assuming they will not be allowed to train beach landings in HI?

How many LST’s from WWII could you buy for $100 million?

It doesn’t exist yet. My hunch is that it never will.

How many of these types of ships have been proposed, only to
build one or two and call the project off?

Is this some tactic to keep the hawks satisfied, while nothing
gets done and we move closer and closer to war without the
new fleet of the promised ships?

No beach out of reach.

Also, mined beached remain out of reach.

Highly recommend 4 weeks beach vacation. Even if you do not actually lay on the beach but sit on the boardwalk .

“Is this some tactic to keep the hawks satisfied”

More likely to keep the military industries occupied. You can’t have a military-industrial complex if you aren’t constantly buying more military hardware, so even if you have no need for new hardware, you’ve got to give them something to produce in the “lean times” between wars.

You should have a don’t watch if you’re on acid warning.

I don’t know why, but this smells like the “Little Crappy Ship Strikes Back.” Especially with the justification that these new ships will be cheaper than a new destroyer. Who was planning to land marines ashore using destroyers? Totally different mission profile. I’m open to convincing arguments regarding the need for these vessels, but this article didn’t provide much justification that these ships will counter a credible threat better than our existing amphibious forces.

On a totally different tack: This project was probably started during the Trump administration. Back then, we were considering an invasion of California by sea. :)

75 is too big of a profile for this mission. Try 4.

Also, I don’t think Marines are the best tools to go hunting for warships. Just sayin.

Yet when the ChiCom ships pull onto the beaches of Hawaii they’ll be hailed as liberators by American leftists.

And out roll the recently taught critical race theory folks with their transgendered shipmates.

How inspiring.
