There’s something in the California air.
The state’s spectacular almond bloom—the largest single pollination event in the world—has begun. Orchards are blooming and honey bees are buzzing.
The video above shows flowering almond trees at Kimmelshue Orchards in Durham, California, south of Chico.
The pollination season typically runs from early February to mid-March.
“Californian almond pollination requires billions of honeybees traveling thousands of miles in a nationally coordinated migration,” according to the agriculture information and news sources website Farm Progress.

Saturday I drove from Modesto to Coulterville.
And encountered 26 miles of continuous almond blossoms.

This is substantially due due to the entrepreneurial creativity of commercial beekeepers, who (in CA still) have enough freedom to design pollination plans, and negotiate agreements with almond growers.
Economic freedom is the main reason people nationwide can buy almonds at low prices.
Given the trend toward crackpot socialism in California, one wonders how long this will continue.
Does anyone remember the hysteria over colony collapse disorder? No, me neither.

Sounds amazing. My only similar experiences were seeing the Italian vineyards on the train from Milan to Rome and seeing the cornfields driving through Nebraska and Iowa in June.
But I do love almonds!

Not only do they get paid for placing the bees, they get to sell the honey and wax.

The state’s spectacular almond bloom—the largest single pollination event in the world—has begun. Orchards are blooming and honey bees are buzzing. Numbers 17
8 And it came to pass, that on the morrow Moses went into the tabernacle of witness; and, behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi was budded, and brought forth buds, and bloomed blossoms, and yielded almonds.
9 And Moses brought out all the rods from before the LORD unto all the children of Israel: and they looked, and took every man his rod.
10 And the LORD said unto Moses, Bring Aaron's rod again before the testimony, to be kept for a token against the rebels; and thou shalt quite take away their murmurings from me, that they die not.
11 And Moses did so: as the LORD commanded him, so did he.

Yes, and how many times can a man turn his head
And pretend that he just doesn't see?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind
The answer is blowin' in the wind.

I think the largest pollination event is "cedar fever" in Texas.

This year’s spring time honey bee packages are being being created right now. Bee eggs laid and billions of new bee being fed off the forage to be shipped all over the country.
Pretty cool if you are into bees.

Economic freedom is the main reason people nationwide can buy almonds at low prices.Having spent some time in the Third World has driven home to me that one of the few things that differentiates us from that world is our ability to feed ourselves.

It’s still a very big thing if you are a bee keeper.

The mesquites come in much later.
Their bean crop can be impressive; makes more mesquites.
Thanks, Spain.

Obviously this is fake news as all the bees died years ago, and almond trees take so much water that California's Central Valley now looks like the Sahara Desert.

In Kansas, when the cotton flys (Cottonwood tree) it’s time to plant feed:)

Not long ago, it was like that here in the "Valley of Heart's Delight." The name got uglified a few years back to "Silicon Valley." The original name was much more pleasant and conjured all sorts of pleasant images which were truly breathtaking, especially in an abundant rainfall year.

The "Blossom Trail" in Fresno County is a breathtaking tour:
