Texas Considers Letting Chinese Company Build Wind Farm That Would Provide Power To Air Force Base

Dubbed the “Blue Hills Wind Project,” GH America Energy, a company owned by Shanghai billionaire Sun Guangxin, plans to purchase nearly 130,000 acres of land immediately across from Laughlin Air Force Base.

Guangxin is a former officer in the Chinese army and is the richest person in China’s embattled Xinjiang province. GH America Energy is a subsidiary of Guanghui Energy Company, based out of Shanghai, where Sun Guangxin owns a controlling 44% stake, according to Market Screener.

Late last year, Del Rio Mayor, Bruno Lozano, wrote to federal officials close to the matter, “We believe that this project and all future projects of a similar nature will result in unacceptable risk to national security of the United States.”

According to a 2018 release from Laughlin Air Force Base, their flight training wing provides over 2800 jobs to the local economy. It also produces 350 new pilots every year. But this program may be in jeopardy due to the Wind Farm’s construction and daily operation.

A combination of radio interference, signal transmission, and even physical obstruction make performing these flight trainings more difficult. Furthermore, the project has potential to hinder access to electricity and water gotten from the local river, which would cripple operations at Laughlin Air Force Base if it were to be attacked or sabotaged in any way.

Former Congressman Will Hurd weighed in at ForeignPolicy.com, “Why are we allowing a Chinese company to do that in the U.S.? A former U.S. general would not be able to do this kind of project in China.”

Hurd expanded on the threat to Texas Public Radio by adding that, “once the owners of the West Texas project named Blue Hills Wind becomes part of the power community, they will gain access to security industry alerts, private industry insights and national security threat assessments.”

Last week, much of Texas was gripped by historic low temperatures, resulting in deadly power outages that affected roughly 4 million people. These outages are widely reported to be the result of an over reliance on wind turbines by Texas’ energy grid, run by the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT).

Governor Greg Abbott (R-TX) held an emergency session with the Texas Legislature Sunday morning but failed to mention the Blue Hills Wind Project or rampant Chinese influence over Texas’ energy grid.

NO! Outrageous, both as a waste of 130K of valuable American real estate, and the “ownership” of a Chinese Communist apparatchik billionaire likes some Jack Ma a@@clown put up job robot for Xi Ping.

To ‘power’ a US military base? WHY why would a base need such specialized power INEFFICIENTLY produced.

This is yet another internalized JoeBama Hunter type SCAM. FOISTED ON THE USA.

All people with that much wealth in mainland China are CCP officials, commanding a lot of respect and wielding a lot of power - unless they are outliers like Jack Ma. XinJiang needs power too for all those new education camps and work factories.

Many believe that Texas is solidly red, but for those who live here, we know how tenuous the situation is.

It already does not matter if Texas goes blue, now that Georgia and Arizona are blue.

I, too have travelled to Austin. More than once.

“Keepin’ it weird” has been an accurate slogan.

Environmental documentary film, ‘The Planet of the Humans,’ absolutely “skewers the renewable energy industry,” Mr Kenny said.

“The film goes on to attack major corporations for their pretense, their virtue-signalling on renewable energy”.

Mr Kenny said the stance taken in the documentary is “kinda strange” given the executive producer is Michael Moore, who is a “millionaire, leftist, academy award winning director”.
