I attended a gun show this weekend. Normally, my social activities aren’t worthy of note but this one is because the show spoke so perfectly to who we really are as Americans – and we are not the racist, hate-filled, stupid killers of leftist caricatures.
To set the stage, I need to go back to the early-1980s, when a long-time friend of mine confessed to me that he was gay. I wasn’t surprised, having figured out the truth years before. I then told him my greatest fear about his being gay, which was that I would lose him to the gay lifestyle. I predicated that he would soon define himself by his sexuality rather than by his interests, skills, and values. He denied that would ever happen, but within a year, he was “a gay man,” rather than a smart, funny, interesting man who happened to be gay.
Forty years later, leftists are doubling down on stripping individuals of their unique attributes and, instead, defining them by external characteristics over which they have no control or, alternatively, by their sexuality or “gender identity.” The notion that the content of a person’s character should be their defining quality is anathema to the left.
A historian is no longer someone who is interested in history, regardless of color, sex, or sexuality. If he’s Black, he is now a Black historian, and his “Blackness” defines the filter through which he views history. You can substitute gay, transgender, feminist, Hispanic, Asian, or any other leftist identity group for the word “Black” in the preceding sentence and you’ll have the same outcome.
The left has a different measurement for White. If you’re White, you’re not a historian who happens to be White. Instead, you’re a White supremacist, a racist, an imperialist, a colonialist,

The salespeople did not have signs saying, “No Blacks served here,” or “No Whites served here.” Instead, whether Black or White themselves, they were happy to talk about and sell their wares to anyone interested. I was interested and ended up buying an exquisite handmade knife made the old-fashioned way.
Just more reason to shut them down. How dare people of every stripe get together and get along just fine.
Beautiful story. Those who would infringe our Second Amendment rights are depriving people of all colors their inalienable right to self-defense. I have a friend whose parents came here legally from India. In their neighborhood keeping a shotgun for home defense was SOP.
3 personal observations.
1. As we entered the shut down last year I thought about buying ammo at the only gun store in a liberal bastion that would give D- Joe Stalin 69% of the vote. The line around the parking lot was 75% minorities.
2. Shortly thereafter neighbor told me his insanely left wing nut job of a spouse wanted to buy a handgun.
3. Last time I went to a range I was an obvious minority both in race and what I brought to shoot. It was impressive and I would hope to be kept on their island/ compound.
This shouldn’t be shocking. I frequently chat with folks of different color at the range I frequent. Many are not “Trump supporters” or military or anything like. Many are obviously new gun owners trying to learn. And they’re just people who have been scared by the media portrayals of how white folks are out to get them. They seem relieved and glad to talk whenever I approach them, and I’ve had them approach me for pointers when it looks like I know what I’m doing. It saddens me how the leftists who control the public institutions are trying to divide us for their own selfish enrichment.
Tribe of pew is pretty inclusive.
The infringements usually hit minorities harder anyway (by virtue of the fact that they tend to be further down the socioeconomic ladder). For example, if you add a requirement that people go down to the police station to get fingerprinted, you’re requiring transportation (potentially extra cost), time (potentially taking time off work), coordinating other responsibilities (e.g. child care), and so on. For people with money, none of that is really a major problem, it’s just a hassle. For people without, that can snowball into a real roadblock.
Gun control is racist.
“...want to go shooting next weekend...” Is your friend supplying the ammo? THAT would be a WOO HOO! LOL!
“(by virtue of the fact that they tend to be further down the socioeconomic ladder)” RuhRoh. Now you’re sounding like pedo joe and his view of minorities/POC. LOL! Yes, I know what you meant.
Never waste an opportunity to use their own arguments against them. It’s more fun when they have to argue against themselves and sometimes you get to see that “uh oh” moment when it clicks that they’re doing it.
Gun control is racist.

It’s always been so.
The NRA when formed made it their mission to protect the gun rights of ALL free men, including blacks in the south who were being denied that right.
