Gee, Abbott wakes up and realizes he is about to lose everything over this.

tell people to suck it up after it’s obvious the entire system was at fault?

Sure, go ahead. Suicide is painless, as the song goes.

This pisses me off because the people who signed up for variable rate or wholesale pricing contracts were paying less for electric for years. There is no free lunch. When you buy a fixed rate contract for a year or two, those rates are higher since the company is taking on the risk of what electricity may cost in the future. Now these crybabies will not pay they risk premium they knew they signed up for, and all the prudent ones will get stuck with the bill. Will those people get back billed for each 1 cent per KWH used during the last few years, the amount of the risk? They should. They get all the benefit when their risky bet is rolling sevens and I pay when their bet rolls snake eyes?!! A pox on all of them.

Sounds like they deregulated them just a wee bit too much.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott says state utilities can NOT stick customers with huge bills after deadly winter storm caused widespread blackouts

Then who is going to foot the bill? Texas has the electrical industry she wanted. You cannot expect to enjoy low electrical bills when energy is in good supply without having to pay more when electricity is not.

Put the blame where it should be. Square flat in the lap of the Obiteme admin that DENIED Texas from bringing their generators up to higher running rates.

The pos admin is to blame.

Texans it is time to leave this failed experiment before the Effin Yankees and bureaucrats destroy our State. Support #TEXIT and HB1359. Call your reps to co author bill. Let Texans decide whether they still want to boot the oppressors out of Texas.

Texas First Texan Always

Couldn’t the state have told the Feds to F off and run at the capacity they needed considering the circumstances, and deal with the consequences later? They’d have full public support behind them, probably judges too. Why did they listen to the Feds. Do the Feds have a master shut off switch?

If I was Abbott and was denied anything from Feds in this situation and could have kept the power running , I would have told the Feds to F off, I’m going full bore anyways. We’ll talk later. Fools.

When I worked for an electric utility in Beaumont, TX back in the 94-97 years, the electric utility companies were regulated by the Texas Railroad Commission or something like that. At this time Texas was in the infancy of embracing the free market concept of electric utility regulation. It was possible for a “electric utility provider” to go into the business of providing electric power service without owning a single KW of power generation nor any transmission or distribution lines or substations. The alleged utility company purchased its electric energy in the open market and then paid the transmission and distribution companies a fee for delivering the power to the end users meter.

Now if Abbott is successful in his efforts to protect the customers from these astronomical rate increases, he may bankrupt these quasi-power companies. There may be a ton of phantom electric companies for sale cheap in Texas.

I want Texas to sue Biden for his deliberate failure to act.

I also want a Class Action lawsuit against Biden for the losses of the Texas citizens.

Insurance companies should also be suing Biden for his total INACTION.
