Sturm Ruger & Co. is staffing up in order to meet the “historic surge” in gun demand that has depleted its inventory.
The Southport, Connecticut-based gun maker has hired 250 employees, mostly in production, since the middle of 2020 to help replenish its stocks as the surge in demand caused combined inventories in its warehouses and distributors to decrease by 86%, or 290,000 units, last year. Retailer inventory of Ruger also remains low.
The hiring spree resulted in a 30% increase in production during the second half of 2020. Ruger is continuing its hiring spree today.
“We are working hard to replenish inventories throughout the distribution channel as quickly as possible, so consumers can purchase the Ruger firearms that they desire,” Sturm Ruger CEO Christopher Killoy said on the company’s fourth-quarter earnings call on Thursday.

The firearms and ammo manufacturers are working as hard as they can to meet demand. And there is a lot of demand.
It's directly related to this subject.
Does this equal a decrease in quality?
I don’t need more guns, I need more ammo.
They need to get the hell out of Connecticut.
As a Ruger stock investor this is good news.
LOL! Ammo Company Has a Special Message For Biden Supporters video (under three minutes)
Or at least give you a laugh.
The Ruger plant in our neck of the woods has been having signs up for over a year that they are *Now Hiring *.
Old wardaddy sub MOA with a 7.62 x 39 Ruger ranch short threaded barrel and Putin glass...and no kidding.....Tula ammo
Old man galloping heart pulse in 10-20 mile cross wind and 120 yards ....across hood of Silverado ..Ruger makes tack drivers......walking her in from starboard off the paper from me fiddling with the side turret thinking it was the range adjuster.....wrong side..
Ditto, sir. In the very early days of covid, I went long on RGR and SWBI. They’ve both been berry, berry good to me. :)
“I don’t need more guns,”
Yes you do.
Sturm Ruger manufacturing is in Newport, NH. The Ruger family has lived here for decades. Our little town depends on Ruger to sustain our employment base. I don’t know what would happen to Newport if they were closed down or went out of business.
Yes you do.
LOL!! Beat me to it!
I haven’t been able to find anything that I want in the line of firearms...at least at a reasonable price.
Ruger sucks as an employer. They’ve been pleading with people on the radio to come to their job fairs. On a whim my engineer son applied and had an interview. In the end they offered him $16.00 p/hr. He’s a mechanical engineer with a minor in machining and an FFL.
Check your local gun store. The store I work at gets stuff in all the time and we don’t have “special prices”.
Haven’t been to local stores lately but check their websites regularly as well as major online sellers.

No you don’t. More ammo yes, but if you know how to use the one you got with proficiency, then 1 is all you need. Personal choice, semi auto shotgun. Everything else is just for bragging rights.

Better than Starbucks. :)
