‘Wanted to Be a Good Dad’: Ted Cruz Responds to Criticism He Traveled to Cancun Amid Texas Power Crisis
The Epoch Times ^ | 2/18/21 | Jack Phillips

Posted on 02/18/2021 3:01:21 PM PST by Bearshouse

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) responded to allegations that he flew to Cancun, Mexico, in the midst of record cold temperatures and snowfall in Texas—which has been besieged by power outages over the past several days.

Cruz appeared to confirm that he went to Cancun, saying that “with school canceled for the week, our girls asked to take a trip with friends. Wanting to be a good dad, I flew down with them last night and am flying back this afternoon.”

“My staff and I are in constant communication with state and local leaders to get to the bottom of what happened in Texas,” he said in a statement on Thursday, referring to the power outages and, in some cases, loss of water.

Sick of snowflake, so-called conservative freepers criticizing our team every time they perceive a wrongdoing by our side.

How very Alinsky of you.

Agreed. I fault him 0% for looking out for his family, in fact I honor him for doing so. I fault him 100% for not personally staying with the ship. The captain does not push old ladies out of the lifeboat to make room for himself.

Cruz’s only screw up was catering to people like you, where form means more than substance. Keep defending that.

If Trump cared about what people like you might say, or what the media might say, or what some RAT politicians might say, he would have accomplished nothing and been like like every other little weasel GOP hack that holds their finger up to the wind to decide what to do, and then almost always stab conservatives in the back time.

Was he supposed to show up to walk the power lines with a big wrench, hard hat, and high voltage suit?

Obviously not. On the other hand can you think of a better time to attack green energy and the climate freaks? I can not. Senators are talkers. Communicators. They push public opinions in a tiny way. The fact that Ted skipped this opportunity to be a warrior for the right is very telling. Looking out for his family is honorable. Skipping out on the opportunity and obligation to lead is a game losing unforced error.

To not see this as a major unforced error by Cruz, you show a lack of rational perspective on him and his political positioning. Beto was a complete dirtbag. I would have voted for Cruz if I was Texan. Seeing that Cruz has made a major mistake, as he himself sees as is evidenced by his statement and rapid butt covering, is not pro Beto. It is not being a blinded fan-boy.

The only person you’re trolling is yourself.

You lost this discussion ten posts or more back.

Now you’re wallowing in it.

Ted himself has said he blew it.

Here you are still trying to pass off the idea he didn’t.

And you’re trying to put me down?

That’s so precious. I’m enjoying this.

To not see this as another hyped, contrived fake scandal that will amount to zip with Texas voters who will vote for Cruz, shows YOU don’t have a clue. Evidently no knowledge of the history of the thousand fake scandals the RATS and their propaganda arm tried to whip up on Trump. All fails in the end.

It doesn’t matter what Cruz did, he or some other conservative would have been blamed for green energy debacles, the neo-Marxists never take responsibility for anything. Wait till the economy utterly tanks this year, 100% guaranteed the neo-Marxists will blame Trump.

I don’t care if he took a flight to drop off his family in an effort to keep them safe. What decent husband and father wouldn’t do what’s possible for his family? I’m not a big Cruz fan, but this is a non issue.

He might be a jerk, but he’s our jerk, and we need him in the GOP right now.

*** Agreed. Most of, if not all, of these FR detractors are not Texans, that I can tell you. ***

Excuse me, my family has been here since Texas was a Republic. Cruz is not a Texan. Texans step up to help their neighbors fix burst pipes, shovel snow, share food, bottled water, fireplace wood.

And in times of crisis, they don’t have a political checklist of who is worthy of their help. My Socialist Democrat friends shared their generator power, freezer, and refrigerator space with people. They provided me with wood for heating. Those with gas or butane cooking means invited people to use their kitchens or cooked. I have always joked about “my store” where there is always shelf stable milk, canned goods, and an array of packaged “sides”, drink mixes, cleaning supplies, first aid supplies.

Sorry, we all become a part of those who can provide corporal or spiritual acts of mercy, and last time I looked bugging out to the Ritz Carlton in another Country isn’t on the list.

The fact that you see this as a contrived scandal is telling. Almost all political scandals are contrived.

This is not a scandal. This is an unforced error. Not recognizing that fact when Cruz himself obviously does disqualifies your opinion as valid.

You love Cruz and it blinds you to his failings.

I love DJT, but I keep perspective and I do see where he made unforced errors. (Barr, Sessions, etc.)

I’m enjoying you displaying such a lack of any understanding on how effective these contrived fake media scandals were over the last 5 years.

Keep repeating: “Trump is finished. He won’t survive this. His voters will now not vote for him. What a screwup. Bad optics.”

WWHAT the hell was Cruz supposed to do? He is a legislator, with no say what-so-ever in the local business in Texas. His job is to represent Texas in DC, he has NO authority in Texas. Geeez!

It’s nothing more than whipped up fake media outrage. Real Texans who would vote for Cruz don’t give a damn about if Cruz signaled he cared. They know he had no role in creating the problems, know he has no role in getting their power turned on, know he has no role in getting their water turned on, know he has no role in managing the electrical grid, know he has no role in managing power plants. Only in your mind (and other care bears) is this such a big deal.

Then why the hell did he come back and apologize if he didn’t realize this was about as bad PR as possible?

Some people are just blind to reality.

So far, you’re the only one to show ignorance here.

You come to snap decisions that don’t reflect reality, and project like a DemocRat when your own hero admitted he F’d up,

Comments about my reaction to Trump were nothing more than wild ass buffoonery.

Always a delight helping you.
