NBC’s Roker to Gates: How Can ‘Big Tech’ Shut Down ‘Climate Deniers’?

In a fawning interview with billionaire Bill Gates aired on Wednesday’s 3rd Hour Today show, co-host Al Roker hailed the Microsoft founder for launching a climate change crusade to “help save the planet.” A prominent left-wing climate activist in his own right, Roker was particularly concerned about “deniers” spreading “misinformation” and wondered if “big tech” could be used to silence them.

“Bill Gates is talking about saving the planet. Being emissions free in 30 years,” Roker heralded at the top of the segment. Turning to Gates, Roker fretted: “Plain and simple, if we don’t act now, what’s at stake here?” The How to Avoid a Climate Disaster author made sure to promote his new book by engaging in doomsday fearmongering:

The south of the United States will no longer be used for, you know, farming. It’ll have days that you can’t go outdoors. The sea level rise, the die off of the natural ecosystems. It gets quite extreme. So it’s almost apocalyptic, but that’s what’s at stake if you don’t start investing now in stopping the emissions.

Every year gets some slew of pundits claiming “what STRANGE weather we’re having” or predicting “weather disasters ahead soon!” Meh. Oceans have risen a foot, and temperatures a degree, in the last century. Hockey stick predictions keep being revised out or down.

Yeah, NOLA flooded - as was predicted annually for decades because, well, it’s freaking below sea level. Sure they’ll rationalize it to any blame they choose. Hard to fend off those who defend vested interests by tossing word salads.

And how much of your net worth is $7M per year Mr. Gates? And what percentage of your annual income is that? What percentage of the average American’s net worth and income, in your lofty opinion, should go to mitigate this supposed manmade disaster? Would it be okay with you oh mighty Gates if those Americans first became independently wealthy before imposing draconian measures on them?

I believe Gate’s attack on black people through common core warrants reparations. ALL of his assets should be confiscated and distributed to those he’s harmed.

The people pushing this simply want to reduce the standard of living in the West to meet the rising standard of living in Asia (as more jobs go there); they want Westerners to give up the idea that they will own detached single-family homes or private automobiles, or have families. When weather/reality didn’t cooperate with “global warming”, they simply switched to “climate change” so they wouldn’t lose credibility so easily.

The last ice age (a mini ice age) occurred shortly before the French Revolution, and contributed to instability in Europe at the time (impacting harvests and fuel costs).

I learned a long time ago to never get into the long weeds when arguing climate change with liberals.

And I also learned this basic fact about the Left. The issue with the Left is never the real issue. The real issue is always their wet dream of a socialist revolution. The only “science” being utilized in the climate change argument is political science.

The global warming or climate change issue has never been about saving the planet or environmentalism or the levels of CO2 or temperature of the earth or any of the other myriad of arguments about the climate the Left uses. The climate is just a convenient vehicle or ruse they use to argue the subject to convince the stupid public of the need for economic system change.

Actually, the Left could care less about the climate. They only care about the power and big government control that socialism and communism will bring them.

t's easier to convince the public we need changes to protect the climate and the earth than it is to convince them of discarding capitalism in favor of socialism.

The Left's use of climate change is, and always has been, about the change of economic systems from capitalism, which is fueled by fossil fuels, to socialism (and eventually communism), which is controlled by big government. That is why they want to get rid of fossil fuels. Not to make the air cleaner or save the planet but it would destroy the capitalist, free-enterprise system and open the way for them to replace it with socialism.

They’ve reinvented it a little now and call it the Green New Deal and the brainchild is now AO-C, as Gore has been mocked persistently into background.

And if you look closely enough, you’ll see the same ruse being used with this corona virus “pandemic”. Substitute covid with climate change and you’ll see that the Left is using the virus for the same scam they’re using the climate for. Their playbook is getting real recognizable lately.

We don’t DENY CLIMATE. We deny that human activities have any measurable effect on it.

If all humans were gone tomorrow, nothing would change. The Earth would continue in its slightly irregular orbit of the Sun, with it small wobble. Temperatures would continue to rise and fall, ice sheets would advance and retreat and sea levels would rise and fall, as they have since the Creation.
