I gave my Dad three of Rush’s ties and even 20 years later he was still getting compliments about the tie he was wearing.
I still have ties in that same style. I feel the need to wear a Rush Tie at church this Sunday.
Most of the others on there were pretty good, though.
My first reaction was, "Should he be saying that kind of stuff out loud?"
Rush helped me to stand up for my personal views.
“...a very, very smart man.”
Of all the variables that made up his success, that was what made it possible.
I have heard him do monologues off the top of his head that would take the average media person eight hours to put together.
He was smart, very, very smart.
But he had his foibles, just as we all do................
I know what you mean. When his book “The Way Things Ought to Be” came out, I received a copy as a Christmas gift (I asked for a copy). I read it at school during homeroom. I was surprised by the number of fellow students, and teachers who gave a knowing nod when they saw the book.
August 1988, I was driving through mid-New York state on my way to Mass. and I picked up a program on the radio. It was a broadcast out of NYCity, and the host was saying things I believed but had never heard anyone say on the radio. I got to Mass. Told the people there you’ve got to listen to this guy. A week later there must have been a hundred listeners. The man was contagious. And he was, after all, a lovable little fuzzball.

...There was a group back in the 1990s — and they still exist.
There was a group in the 1990s that were malcontents, renegades, and off the mainstream plantation of conservatism as articulated by the party.
Those were the people that were the early participants in the website Free Republic.
They were known as Freepers. - Rush Limbaugh, July 3, 2013
When she was in high school Rush came to Dallas to attend WBAP's dinner honoring him. I got seats for her and me. Before the event she walked up to him and thanked him for sending her the post card. Talk about memories.
Because I made a habit of listening to Rush and let him do the talking for the most part, all four of my kids grew up knowing how to think rightly about politics.
Thank you Rush!
Ditto.
What a wonderful memory for you and your kids (especially your daughter). I started listening to his show when I was in high school. He touched a lot of lives.
I loved his TV show. The station that carried his show in my town aired it at about 1am. I stayed-up to watch the show. I still remember the “Commie Babe Make-up Artist” who he teased.
Rush’s clear, concise way of explaining conservatism and liberalism helped convince me to leave the ‘rat party in the early 90’s. RIP.
What amazes me is you look at a transcript of his off the cuff remarks and it looks like edited prose. His ability to unspool a thought in an orderly way was incredible.
