If this is, in fact, *simply* a case where the homeowner shot the sign thief then that shooter went too far...*way* too far.

Yes,I didn’t see that at the top of this thread. If there was a wheelbarrow involved and that wheelbarrow was used in an effort to break down their door then,IMO,it stops being “murder” and,perhaps,becomes “unauthorized discharge of a firearm”.
