A report that Los Angeles police officers circulated a photo of George Floyd with the words “you take my breath away” in a Valentine-like format has prompted an internal investigation and drawn blistering condemnation from Floyd’s family, the district attorney and the police union.
Los Angeles Police Chief Michel Moore said Saturday that investigators will try to determine how the image may have come into the workplace....

Maybe a pic of fentynal would have been better.

"The court finds you guilty of Insensitive Memeing in the First Degree, with Malice Aforethought!"
Well I think it’s funny.
So there ARE some good cops in the LAPD!
Poor taste.
But also gallows humor.
Go ahead and be angry, but it doesn’t deserve all that attention. Much less anything besides an asterisk on the record.
Police humor has always been somewhat dark, which is understandable when one considers what the street cop, patrolman or deputy sees in the course of a week of shift work. You learn to laugh at macabre situations or it eats you up to the point of eating the barrel of your pistol.

Adios!
I’d like to congratulate Mr. Floyd on being clean and sober for nine months.

Very true. But there is a big problem here. Let’s say white Officer Smith was involved in this stupid, unprofessional joke. And he gets caught. Now every time Officer Smith testifies against a black defendant, the defense attorney will bring this incident up to impeach his testimony.
We saw the exact think happen during the OJ Simpson trial. LAPD Officer Mark Fuhrman had said some racist things in the past. Those things were used to discredit him. And so the murderer walked free.
Heard about this on the radio yesterday afternoon. Cracked me up. :)
Morbid humor necessary to get through a nasty job.
EMT’s also have the same gallows humor.
Really don’t care. They don’t have more pressing matters?
Mocking St George is a capitol offense, I hope the officers who originated the valentine can remain anonymous.
Great joke... Bring back fun at other people’s expense not to mention he died of a drug overdose.
