This is the biggest problem we face moving forward.

Global Socialism which will lead to Global Communism

“you’ll own nothing and like it”

Not in America. Not without a heavy prescription of oppressive power as well as massive delusion.

Americans value their stuff far more than they value freedom.

Any such attempts may or may not successful take everything way from people, but if even if they are not fully aware of their loss, the chaos (at least against others) would be uncontrollable.

The delusion would have to take a form much like it has to date, only on steroids, which is making people believe that they actually possess things, even though they don’t. Without that, you have nothing more than dogs tearing at each other for crumbs that hit the floor

There are only two choices: individualism and freedom or collectivism and slavery.

“Freedom is the freedom to say that two plus two make four. If that is granted, all else follows.”
― George Orwell, 1984

“So long as they (the Proles) continued to work and breed, their other activities were without importance. Left to themselves, like cattle turned loose upon the plains of Argentina, they had reverted to a style of life that appeared to be natural to them, a sort of ancestral pattern...Heavy physical work, the care of home and children, petty quarrels with neighbors, films, football, beer and above all, gambling filled up the horizon of their minds. To keep them in control was not difficult.”
― George Orwell, 1984

One of the main messages of Jesus (besides eternal life and the kingdom of heaven) was that prosperity is available to everyone, rather than egalitarian utopia or class struggle

Not in America.

Yes in America. And not so gradually, either. Has to be swift, for the very reasons you cite. It's a trap, and we were (are?) falling for it, mostly, right now.

The post link is the lighter side of Klaus Schwab and the Great Reset. There is MUCH to check out for the serious version, but here is one link to ramp up - Catherine Fitts, Investment banker and helped direct HUD around 1990. Knows it from the inside:

Both are coming. The engines pulling both are huffing and puffing around the bend. Straining every nerve. Soon they will be pulling into the station and getting ready to unload.

I’ll tell you what’s gradually changing that even among independent-minded people: rapid advances in technology.

We live at a time where a lot of the “stuff” Americans value becomes functionally obsolete long before it physically deteriorates. When that happens, it makes less and less sense to own something unless the cost of owning it is fairly inconsequential.

When I purchased my last car, the guy at the dealership was surprised I was buying it instead of leasing it. He said 80% of the transactions at his dealership were leases. And this was not a high-volume dealership that made its money selling cars to people who couldn’t afford them, either. It’s located in one of the wealthiest counties in the U.S. and caters to a high-end clientele (except me, LOL). If you’re going to amortize your costs over 3-5 years and keep the vehicle for ten, then it makes sense to buy it. But if you’re going to replace it every 3-5 years then it usually makes more sense to lease it.

But the people proposing this will continue to own things. This is a vision of hell.

You’ll Own Nothing and be Happy - or Else

The politburo/banker elite will Own Everything, and they'll be quite happy.

Right ... and the rest of us, those they allow to live, will be their servants and chattel slaves - the girls won’t be so lucky.

Very good point.

I think the communist plan is to collapse the economy. That will take away all the people's "stuff."

Next, the Ruling Establishment will focus the resulting anger of the people at the capitalist/free market/republican system in order to overthrow it and install the new communist/socialist government.

“And this was not a high-volume dealership that made its money selling cars to people who couldn’t afford them, either.”

The old cliche is: “There is a leisure class at each end of the social scale”.
