Senior Republican Lindsey Graham has suggested there is a clear path for Donald Trump's daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, to become a Senator in 2022.
Graham, Senator for South Carolina, made the claim as conservative voices rounded on the seven GOP Senators who—unsuccessfully—voted to convict the former president over a charge of inciting the January 6 Capitol insurrection.
Retiring Senator Richard Burr, for North Carolina, was among those who sided with Democrats to convict, sparking an angry backlash from his local Republican party which condemned Burr for what it called a "shocking and disappointing" vote.
Amid the backlash, Graham was quick put Lara Trump at the center of debate around who will replace Burr.
Speaking to Fox News Sunday, he suggested the backlash to Burr's vote could help her, should she decide to run when Burr's current term
"My friend Richard Burr just made Lara Trump almost the certain nominee for the senate seat in North Carolina to replace him if she runs."

The establishment Republicans, including Lindsey Graham, will do everything they can to see that she is never elected.
Wonderful idea!!!!
Anyone know the district and stats where she would run?
I don’t care what her last name is - how conservative is she, how forceful is she in championing conservative principles and how strong will she be in standing up to establishment GOP-E types as well as Democrats?
She’s got bigger stones than you do, Lindsey
I do not like the idea of political dynasties of either party.
If she runs then I feel for her because I wouldn’t wish what’s going to happen to her in the primary and the general on my worst enemy.
I would not trust a word that comes out of Linda’s mouth. EVER.
I dont feel good when a GOPE uber leader like Graham is “OK’ with anything. Even if he says “Don Jr can run in Kentucky’s senate race (Turtle’s nest)”, I still think there’s an angle here..
Anyone know the district and stats where she would run?

Senators are elected by a “statewide” vote.
Senators are at large? State wide.
Neither do I but Trump is relatively popular in North Carolina and it's a battleground state so it would be an important hold by Lara Trump, should she decide to run.
All she has to do is run the same campaign Biden did - from the basement or front porch.
Why face the crazies? Her name alone should win it in South Carolina.
I only wish that Trump had 50 relatives.
Is GrahamIdiot now the spokesman for Trump? Can this mofo shut up already with his RINO Nostradamus-like predictions?!
Lindsey is trying to play peacemaker with Donald after what the GOP namely McConnell did to him yesterday so he doesn’t bash the party at the the thought of his daughter in law in congress
She should go after Burrnt’s seat.
Graham’s been mentioning her for the open Senate seat. She would have to establish residency in North Carolina. Former Congressman Mark Walker is the only declared GOP candidate. In December, polls showed Lara Trump with a slim lead over former Governor Pat McCrory in a primary race.
I see no point at all for any self respecting American Patriot to even consider running for office until such time as those who completely destroyed our voting processes are taken into custody and charged for their crimes.
