Chris Harrison, host of “The Bachelor,” says he is stepping down from his TV role and is “ashamed” for his handling of a swirling racial controversy at the ABC dating show.
In a new statement posted Saturday, Harrison apologized again for defending the actions by a contestant that are considered offensive. “By excusing historical racism, I defended it,” he wrote.
Harrison came under fire after an interview on “Extra” when he was asked about racially insensitive past behavior from current “Bachelor” contestant Rachael Kirkconnell.
Past photos of her resurfaced in which she is dressed in costume as a Native American and at an antebellum plantation themed ball. Kirkconnell later issued an apology for what she calls her past “racist and offensive” actions.
In the interview, Harrison defended Kirkconnell against what he called the “woke police” on social media. “We all need to have a little grace, a little understanding, a little compassion,” he said in the interview.
Harrison apologized on Saturday, saying “my ignorance did damage” and he was “ashamed over how uninformed I was.” He said he is stepping aside from his TV show “for a period of time” and will not be hosting the ”After the Final Rose” special that will follow the season finale of “The Bachelor.”

But ok for blackface for democrat governors...
What a suck up apology. He’s never going to work again, so why the groveling and begging for forgiveness?
Ha ha.
Holy Sh!t! The public shaming of the cultural revolution cannot be too far in the future now. This guy needs to be put on a stage, wear a shaming placard around his neck, bow his head in shame and endure the screams and taunts of "the woke" New Red Guard.
It worked well in China not long ago...
No, that's just IGNORANT. But maybe you'd like some cardboard Valentine cutouts for your front yard?
Hd had an easier job than Vanna White and got millions for it.
Never apologize. It won’t do any good, the woketards will still destroy you.
caption reads "Suppress counterrevolutionary, guarantee good times!"
Too many White dudes have become faggots.
Dudes need to find their spines.
No support for anyone who makes that kind of apology for that minor of a thing. The revolutionary mob doesn’t believe in forgiveness anyway, so be a man and fight.
Canceled himself out of a lucrative job.
The majority of this generation are brainwashed something fierce.

Well, consider the show he was hosting......... Just sayin’... Not to mention, why is this show even on. Isn’t it blatant sexist? THE BACHELOR. Surprised they haven’t been sued out of existence.
apology is NOT accepted, until he goes and works 4 months at Facebook, removing any offensive comments, then work at Twitter and must remove all accounts of people who think that the Chinese Govt has some blame in this.
I ‘ve often thought things like this are staged so Americans can be attacked and plant into minds what is acceptable and what’s not. Nothing but brainwashing.
Considering the fact the contestant did NOTHING wrong (gee, going to an event wearing a Scarlet O’Hara southern belle type dress is now somehow “racist”?!), Harrison should have told anyone complaining to pi$$ off.
His “apology” reads like it was written by the suits at ABC/Disney - and it most likely was. What a total load of tripe..
Man up, Chris! For God’s sake..tell these people to pound sand, as you rightly should.
And just have to say..if the left continues to call EVERYTHING - and I mean pretty much EVERYTHING “racist”, it’s really going to totally lose all meaning. If it hasn’t already.
So, she dressed up like an Indian (not a “native American”) and a Southern belle?
So frickin’ what?
I wore a gorilla mask to a Halloween party in 1974. Please direct me to the nearest disintegration chamber.
