House impeachment managers are making the case that Donald Trump repeatedly failed to act to call off rioters and stop the violence at the U.S. Capitol last month.
Democratic Rep. Joaquin Castro of Texas said Wednesday that Trump didn't deploy the National Guard or any other law enforcement to help overwhelmed Capitol Police on Jan. 6 despite multiple pleas for him to do so.

It’s media coverage like this that makes me understand why some governments just take control of thier press. Imagine trying to run an honest, transparent government for normal, law-abiding citizens but having to do so in the face of mass, relentless propaganda to the contrary.
WHY kill Ashli???
A simple push back would have been just as effective to prevent her coming through that broken door window. She had no weapon in her hands or on her person. Was that not excessive force?

Party ownership of the print media
made it easy to manipulate public opinion,
and the film and radio carried the process further.
....... The Ministry of Truth, Winston's place of work, contained, it was said, three thousand rooms above ground level, and corresponding ramifications below. The Ministry of Truth concerned itself with Lies. Party ownership of the print media made it easy to manipulate public opinion, and the film and radio carried the process further. The primary job of the Ministry of Truth was to supply the citizens of Oceania with newspapers, films, textbooks, telescreen programmes, plays, novels - with every conceivable kind of information, instruction, or entertainment, from a statue to a slogan, from a lyric poem to a biological treatise, and from a child's spelling-book to a Newspeak dictionary. Winston worked in the RECORDS DEPARTMENT (a single branch of the Ministry of Truth) editing and writing for The Times. He dictated into a machine called a speakwrite. Winston would receive articles or news-items which for one reason or another it was thought necessary to alter, or, in Newspeak, rectify. If, for example, the Ministry of Plenty forecast a surplus, and in reality the result was grossly less, Winston's job was to change previous versions so the old version would agree with the new one. This process of continuous alteration was applied not only to newspapers, but to books, periodicals, pamphlets, posters, leaflets, films, sound-tracks, cartoons, photographs - to every kind of literature or documentation which might conceivably hold any political or ideological significance. When his day's work started, Winston pulled the speakwrite towards him, blew the dust from its mouthpiece, and put on his spectacles. He dialed 'back numbers' on the telescreen and called for the appropriate issues of The Times, which slid out of the pneumatic tube after only a few minutes' delay. The messages he had received referred to articles or news-items which for one reason or another it was thought necessary to rectify. In the walls of the cubicle there were three orifices. To the right of the speakwrite, a small pneumatic tube for written messages; to the left, a larger one for newspapers; and on the side wall, within easy reach of Winston's arm, a large oblong slit protected by a wire grating. This last was for the disposal of waste paper. Similar slits existed in thousands or tens of thousands throughout the building, not only in every room but at short intervals in every corridor. For some reason they were nicknamed memory holes. When one knew that any document was due for destruction, or even when one saw a scrap of waste paper lying about, it was an automatic action to lift the flap of the nearest memory hole and drop it in, whereupon it would be whirled away on a current of warm air to the enormous furnaces which were hidden somewhere in the recesses of the building. As soon as Winston had dealt with each of the messages, he clipped his speakwritten corrections to the appropriate copy of The Times and pushed them into the pneumatic tube. Then, with a movement which was as nearly as possible unconscious, he crumpled up the original message and any notes that he himself had made, and dropped them into the memory hole to be devoured by the flames. What happened in the unseen labyrinth to which the tubes led, he did not know in detail, but he did know in general terms. As soon as all the corrections which happened to be necessary in any particular number of The Times had been assembled and collated, that number would be reprinted, the original copy destroyed, and the corrected copy placed on the files in its stead. In the cubicle next to him the little woman with sandy hair toiled day in day out, simply at tracking down and deleting from the Press the names of people who had been vaporized and were therefore considered never to have existed. And this hall, with its fifty workers or thereabouts, was only one-sub-section, a single cell, as it were, in the huge complexity of the Records Department. Beyond, above, below, were other swarms of workers engaged in an unimaginable multitude of jobs. There were huge printing-shops and their sub editors, their typography experts, and their elaborately equipped studios for the faking of photographs. There was the tele-programmes section with its engineers, its producers and its teams of actors specially chosen for their skill in imitating voices; clerks whose job was simply to draw up lists of books and periodicals which were due for recall; vast repositories where the corrected documents were stored; and the hidden furnaces where the original copies were destroyed. And somewhere or other, quite anonymous, there were the directing brains who co-ordinated the whole effort and laid down the lines of policy which made it necessary that this fragment of the past should be preserved, that one falsified, and the other rubbed out of existence. |
Some serious mental illness afflicting members of congress.
And there were police officers in the line of fire.
Police officers who stood and watched the door windows being broken and seemed to be having a discussion of either the weather or the window breaking technique being used. They too could have pulled Ashli away from going through the broken window without using deadly force. . . but apparethat was not in the script.
The building was breached just ten minutes after President Trump started speaking and he didn’t know anything about it for forty minutes after that. He had not said anything yet about walking down the mall to the Capitol when some non-Trump supporters, Antifa and BLM activists started attacking the Capitol Building masquerading as Trump supporters and "White Supremists" toting Trump paraphernalia but mostly wearing black military outfits.
It’s amazing but Castro’s presentation made an impression on my wife. I did not watch it. I was sub teaching and came home and she told me that she had watched it and was impressed by his speech as being reasonable and had changed her mind and said that she thought Trump should be found guilty. It was all I could do to bring up things to show her that he did not. She was watching the coverage on CBS and she said that they were saying that there might be several Senators who voted to convict because they were concerned about their “legacy.” It was really weird!
Now, to understand this I will tell you that she is morally conservative but has never been comfortable with President Trump’s style. She did, however, vote for him.
Could anyone that watched Castro’s speech tell me about the gist of his speech and why it might have been impressive to my wife? Please, no profanity or belittling. I am seriously concerned and it would help me to know more.
The media hid it asap they make scum look useful.
I did not watch yesterday... I watched today, but I saw Castro re-iterate some of his points in answers to Senators’ questions today. He was one who presented videos that were edited to present Trump’s speech in the worst light, words out of context, truncated phrases where the actual meaning was left on the cutting room floor.
It was Castro who kept hammering that President Trump used the word "fight" twenty times in the Ellipse Speech... implying Trump was exhorting his followers to violence in the speech, but Castro for all his cut and paste edited videos, never showed them. He even quoted President Trump saying they should "go and fight like Hell, even to death!"
Today, Defense Counsel Schoen did show them, all twenty of the times Trump used the word "fight" in the speech, and not a single one of the exhorted attendees to physically fight their opponents, much less go to the Capitol Building and do violence. Most of them were in reference to legislators taking the fight for conservatives and their values to the House or Senate as the voters’ representatives, and who is or is not fighting for us. . . and how we will have to fight those who did not by primarying them. Five of the twenty, I counted, five uses of "fight" were used in talking about just one very effective Congressman who "fights."
Defense counsel pointed out that the "fight like hell, even to death" quote was NOT from the ellipse speech at all, but was culled from a speech months ago referring to what DEMOCRATS would be doing were a presidential election be stolen from them!
Castro is a good looking, young man who is an effective speaker... and an effective liar. Why? He’s mastered the art of looking sincere while slipping the rope around your neck. Other House Managers picked up his 20 times Trump said to fight mantra as well, and he and they repeated it even after Schoen hoisted him on his petard and showed all the Senators by playing it being used, that just because a word might have been used twenty times, it doesn’t mean it was used in context as an exhortation to violence. But that did not stop Castro or every other House Manager from climbing back up on their petard and firing it again and sailing over the horizon by counting the twenty times Trump said "fight" over and over again and yet again... and one Dim Senator even used it in a Question... SHEESH!
Tell your wife that the rioters, 1.3 miles away from where Trump was speaking, were breaking down the doors of the Capitol Building just 15 minutes after President Trump began speaking. These members of Antifa, Black Lives Matter, and left-leaning ProudBoys (their president is an anti-Trump socialist), had been planning on this violence for weeks as a false flag to denigrate Trump supporters by masquerading AS Trump supporters. Over 20 of the arrestees including the two guys mountain man outfits, John Sullivan (who videoed Ashli Babbit’s killing), are known leftist agitators, as was the guy bashing the window from the outside in one video.
There is no way any of them were incited by Trump’s words or speech to insurrection, because they were not present at the speech to hear them; they were on the far side of the Capitol, and they themselves were independently starting, agitating, the break-in of the Capitol Building and invasion of the seat of power.
Your wife needs to learn to never believe a single word that comes from the mouth of any Democrat... and distrust most other politicians as well.
