White House says Mavericks’ national anthem ban recognizes US failings

WASHINGTON — The Biden administration on Tuesday appeared to support the Dallas Mavericks’ decision to nix the national anthem at games — telling reporters that national pride includes knowing that Americans “haven’t lived up to our highest ideals.”

At a White House press conference, spokeswoman Jen Psaki was asked what President Biden thought of Mavericks owner Mark Cuban’s decision to no longer play “The Star-Spangled Banner” following an athlete-led kneeling protest over systemic racism.

“Well, I haven’t spoken with the president about the decision by Mark Cuban or the Dallas Mavericks,” Psaki said, “but I know he’s incredibly proud to be an American, and has great respect for the anthem, and all that represents, especially for our men and women serving in uniform around the world.”

Biden’s top spokeswoman then appeared to endorse the decision and said athletes choosing to kneel during the anthem were calling out the nation’s failings.

“He’d also say that, of course, that part of the pride in our country means recognizing moments where we as a country haven’t lived up to our highest ideals, which is often, and at times, when people are speaking to when they take action at sporting events,” she went on.

“And it means respecting the rights of people, granted to them the Constitution to peacefully protest. That’s why he ran for president in the first place and that’s what he’s focused on doing every day,” she said.

The White House?

What does that even mean?

Why doesn’t Joe come out and Twitter and call America failed all by himself?

Yes we failed to inaugurate the winner of the 2020 election, so we can agree on something.

If I was ever at a Mav’s game, I would stand at the time the National Anthem is supposed to be played and I would sing it.

They can only take it away from you if you let them.

Of course ...

Frankly I'm ambivalent regarding playing the National Anthem at every sporting event. Its a nice tradition, but since most people don't pay attention, and the athletes certainly don't show respect during the Anthem, I don't care if they stop the practice.
I do care about the constant drumbeat brainwashing that America is evil, and that it was founded by evil people. Sure, we are ALL evil, but America has been the best force of 'good' (relatively speaking) in the history of this planet.
But communists must tear down our history, and our education systems willing push this mantra (since they, by and large, are communists).
I have a bigger problem with the crap that our schools are spewing, than with the playing of the Anthem at every sporting event (I'd save it for special events).

America is supposed to be about individual achievement that only occurs when the government gets out of your way. Government isn't supposed to "do" anything besides sustain a monetary system or treasury, provide for a common defense, and regulate interstate commerce.

Thats it.

It’s probably worth mentioning that all of America’s failings came at the hands of the Democrat party. there’s no stain on this nation’s soul that they didn’t put there-from slavery, to the Trail of Tears, to the Civil War, to the KKK, to whites only drinking fountains, to segregation, to the internment of Japanese citizens in concentration camps, to the use of nuclear weapons against Japanese civilians, to Waco, to Ruby Ridge, to the the theft of the 2020 election-all brought to you by the Democrat party.

IIRC, the Dallas Stars hockey team faced backlash last year from season ticket holders for the team’s pro-Black Lives Matter rhetoric. Maybe the local fans spoke out in criticism of the anthem’s removal.
