If the Capitol Hill "Insurrection" was truly an attempted coup, as the Democrats insist it was, then there should have been a significant and authoritative response that caused it to fail. There ought to have been a military response, or a major political leader ought to have come forward to condemn the coup and rally the country to his side.
In fact, President Trump did tell the rioters to behave peacefully, and could be given credit for his steady and pacific leadership during a moment of crisis—though the opposite narrative has been promulgated. But there was otherwise no real response to what has been cast as a revolutionary, seditious moment. So why did the January 6 "Insurrection fail"? The only answer that makes sense is that it wasn’t actually an insurrection or coup at all.

There was no insurrection, there was no riot.
I saw riots on TV this summer, I know what they look like.
There usually seems to be a lot of fire involved.
There is none. This is a government planned false flag act of domestic terrorism.
Some riot.
A few windows got broken and a government employee murdered an unarmed conservative woman.
Sheesh. Antifa/BLM cause more mayhem in their sleep.
I told an acquaintance that if January 6 was a genuine insurrection, it’s probably the gentlest in human history. The riots in the big cities we saw over the summer were deadlier.
Do you see fires in DC now?
Did you see fires in DC on the 6th?
It turn out that the presence of Trump supporters de-escalates violence, in DC, apparently.
Or don’t trust your lyin’ eyes ....
Think of Jan. 6 as a self-guided tour of the Capitol that went sideways.
The Jan. 6th “insurrection” was just more TDS-unhinged enemydia FAKE NEWS, aided by Antifa infiltrators, DeepState security officials, and repeatedly excreted by politically diarrhetic RINOcrats.
If Jan 6 was an insurrection, Joe and the Ho would not be in the White House.
That’s too logical!
Scott Adams has some similarly useful lines of thought.
