Senator Pat Toomey (R-PA) said Sunday on CNN’s”State of the Union” that former President Donald Trump’s impeachment was “clearly constitutional.”
Anchor Jake Tapper said, “Just days after the Capitol riot, you came on the show, you said President Trump conducted impeachable offenses, he should resign, he could face criminal liability. Some of your colleagues have said he should be acquitted in the Senate trial on Tuesday. Are you going to vote to hold him accountable?”

They are trying to dirty Trump up.
For several reasons.
Reduce his influence on GOP voters.
Reduce the possibility he will run again in 2024.
That is what this is all about. Nothing more.
He’s also leaving because he knows he won’t be re-elected. No doubt he’ll move on to some ocer-paid sinecure Deep State has lined up for him.
I think Deep State may be trying to cut its losses here and is using Toomey to try to provide some cover.

But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability."
All Toomey is doing is driving the stake in deeper and twisting it around in the corpse of the GOP.
