Democrats demand Trump testifies about his role in MAGA riot at his Senate impeachment trial next week

House impeachment managers asked former President Donald Trump to testify under oath in his impeachment trial next week.

Lead Impeachment Manager Jamie Raskin sent a letter to Trump, asking he provide testimony under oath, either before or during the Senate impeachment trial, about his conduct on January 6, the day his MAGA supporters stormed the Capitol.

The move by House Democrats is a sign they intend to aggressively prosecute the former president. The House managers do not have independent authority to subpoena Trump so they must invite him to make his case.

The House managers do not have independent authority to subpoena Trump...

Then don't give them an opening.

If Trump’s attorneys were allowed to question him during his testimony at the impeachment trial, I think he should go and educate the Senate, and any American who may be watching, about ELECTION FRAUD.

The left is trying to sweep election fraud under the table as if it never happened. If they can get people to believe it never happened, they can continue stealing elections.

Under oath? This isn't a real trial, and is unconstitutional. Trump has no requirement to be a part of this kangaroo court.

The Democrats want to get Commander Queeg on the stand to defend his geometric logic about the missing strawberries.

Dear Chucky,

Thank you for your invitation.

However as we both know the impeachment proceedings is illegal. It is illegal because it is not according to the provisions of the US Constitution.

Since you will have everyone together I am sending you material evidence of an illegal federal election which occurred in November. I, along with the entire nation. await your corrective action.

There’s a part of me that would love to see Trump sitting at his trial and while the House managers are droning on, to slowly, deliberately tear tear up his copy of the Articles of Impeachment.

Of course Nancy would move to have him declared in contempt of Congress. And I think his presence this Bill of Attainder ‘trail’ would be unwise.

Since when does the prosecution call the defendant in a trial to the stand? If the defendant wishes to take the stand they can do so during the defense phase of the trial and if they do are then able to be cross examined by the prosecution.

In a court of law, the defendant does not have to testify. The prosecutor cannot call the defendant . The defense attorney is the only one who can call the defendant to testify, but if the defense calls the defendant, the prosecutor has the right to cross-examine the defendant. The prosecutor is, also, forbidden to use the fact that the defendant did not testify is anyway to influence the jury.

Seems like the prosecution is trying to get the President up there to force him to invoke the fifth.

Surely, as this is a trial and PDJT is the accused - he has the right to remain silent...he has the right to not self incriminate.

Before all of this kabuki theater plays out Trump's lawyers should:

1) Demand to know what authority these fools are using to hold a kangaroo court such as this?

2) Then demand to know why he wasn't indicted?

3) Then demand to know who the impartial judge will be who will preside over the event?

These democrats are acting as though they are the judge, jury, and executioner???? Are they mad? Or simply mad with communistic tendencies?

>>> What if no one from Trumps team participates

That would be a far more powerful statement of the truth of things than anything else.

Even proceedings in the house FAILED to follow constitutional guidelines for impeachment.

The indictment cites Trump’s “baseless claims” of election fraud, and yet even our republicans are saying that Trump will NOT be allowed to provide evidence of fraud in his defense. (Lindsey Graham)

The senate is going to go forward with impeachment regardless of anything anyone does.... just like they went forward with installing Joe Biden, despite blatantly obvious fraud.

Watch this.... the senate will end up holding a secret ballot vote, no matter what the testimony is or is not.
They will claim that it will be necessary to get “HONESTY” from republicans as to what the truth is and to protect them from voter backlash.

Trump will be convicted.

Send in the lawyers in suits and MAGA hats, have them tell the Senate they have no authority to “impeach” a citizen, have them drop the written rebuke on the table, and immediately turn around and walk out.

I wish they would subpoena him - that would give the opportunity to challenge the subpoena and get this in the courts where it could go the SCOTUS and quickly be established that there is no jurisdiction. But that explains their reluctance.
