House impeachment managers asked former President Donald Trump to testify under oath in his impeachment trial next week.
Lead Impeachment Manager Jamie Raskin sent a letter to Trump, asking he provide testimony under oath, either before or during the Senate impeachment trial, about his conduct on January 6, the day his MAGA supporters stormed the Capitol.
The move by House Democrats is a sign they intend to aggressively prosecute the former president. The House managers do not have independent authority to subpoena Trump so they must invite him to make his case.

No chance of conviction so looking for a process crime. Mueller tried the same thing.
Process crimes are the hallmark of political persecutions.

I know Trump would enjoy having that international spotlight as he testified, but I am hoping he does not take the bait and walk into that rigged trap.
He won’t be given much chance to say anything, the Dems will be grabbing their own facetime, with angry lectures to Trump. Former Atty Gen. Barr went through such a routine about two years ago, back when I still thought he would be an asset to the president.
And last I checked, in America you cannot be forced to testify against yourself.
Don’t. It’s a perjury trap, straight out of the Mueller, Comey, Fitzgerald playbook. No matter what he says, they will claim it’s a “lie.”
If anything, send a video and a transcript of his speech and make them prove where he said go attacked the capital versus March to the capital to protest outside.
Trump should instruct his lawyers to provide a detailed explanation of why he believed there was voter fraud, and make the Dems listen to that for three weeks. Then he should spend another week showing clips of the BLM riots and the Dems and media defending the rioters, and the clip of Waters urging a mob to harass and confront Trump administration officials. And then play the clip of Schumer threatening the Supreme Court. Bring it on.
They claim to reserve all their rights, including the right to make adverse inferences if he remains silent.
