FAA taking charge of SpaceX rocket explosion investigation
The Hill ^ | February 3, 2021 | John Bowden

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will take over the investigation into an explosion that destroyed a SpaceX rocket during a test flight on Tuesday, the agency said.

CNN reported that an FAA spokesperson confirmed the investigation and said it would identify the "root cause" behind the craft's explosion upon landing in Texas.

"The FAA's top priority in regulating commercial space transportation is ensuring that operations are safe, even if there is an anomaly," the agency spokesperson said, according to CNN.

"The FAA will oversee the investigation of today's landing mishap involving the SpaceX Starship SN9 prototype in Boca Chica, Texas. Although this was an uncrewed test flight, the investigation will identify the root cause of today's mishap and possible opportunities to further enhance safety as the program develops," the spokesperson added.

Looks like the FAA is going to be a regular nuisance. I’m sure the sudden change in attitude from them that we’ve seen the past few weeks has nothing to do with politics...

Getting the feeling that since Musk started questioning the accepted narrative, people in power are not liking him as much. Wonder what really happened to that launch.

SpaceX must be punished. Private enterprise must be discouraged.

Musk is going to have to move somewhere else.

It’s all political! Now the left is going to screw with Musk and try to destroy all the fantastic work he has accomplished. They are true a**holes.

Instead of SpaceX going balls to the wall to figure out the problem and get back on track, the FAA will provide their stellar service and have their findings completed in two years.

Does this delay future testing until FAA gives the green light?

. . .and when Musk moves SpaceX to a more friendly location in another country, they’ll pillory him for it. . .

Yup.
This is sheer extortion and blackmail on a guy who is not prepared to dole out millions of dollars to the corrupt Dem political machine.
Perhaps the FAA should watch this video. There is a reason there is this saying “this is not rocket science”.
Rocket science is very hard.
Every single rocket developed by the US government experienced spectacular explosions/failures before being perfected.
Even the Faclon 9 regularly exploded on landing until they got it perfect like we have now.

The FAA dropped the ball on the Boeing 737 Max but now they’re going to make up for it with the SpaceX investigation.

I'm sure some of the rocket design specifics will end up in the hands of the Chicoms.

Elon Musk should consider running for Presi. He’s the tech version of Trump in many ways.

Elon Musk may have to move SpaceX to Mexico or Turkey. The Turkish President is already in talks with SpaceX. He wants a SpaceX presence in Turkey.

The government has to ensure that SpaceX doesn’t get its Mars vehicle in working order before NASA gets theirs working. This will delay SpaceX by a couple of years. Perhaps if SpaceX had a muslim outreach program they would be left alone.
