Last month, millions of Americans watched as President Biden took the oath of office and, in a high-minded Inaugural Address, called for a new era of American unity.
But plenty of other Americans weren’t paying attention to Mr. Biden’s speech. They were too busy watching YouTube videos alleging that the inauguration was a prerecorded hoax that had been filmed on a Hollywood soundstage.
Or they were melting down in QAnon group chats, trying to figure out why former President Donald J. Trump wasn’t interrupting Mr. Biden’s speech to declare martial law and announce the mass arrest of satanic pedophiles.
Or maybe their TVs were tuned to OAN, where an anchor was floating the baseless theory that Mr. Biden “wasn’t actually elected by the people.”

Winston Smith
Orwell’s 1984 is no longer considered a warning, but as a playbook for Ds.

Why would I bother.
Unfortunately that could spell thread dead on arrival.
And the reason you think such a NYTimes article as this would be welcomed here is?
Back before the internet, they kidded themselves that they really were the reality czar (newspaper of record).
In those days their main selling point in NYC was want ads that pulled, not the accuracy or otherwise of their reporting.
The internet stole that from them, too. :)
Would the reality Czar have stopped the news from reporting the Russian collusion hoax?
If the times endorses it, then it seeks to destroy the foundations of the United States and to impose a totalitarian fascist entity to control every aspect of our lives.
That’s what we need: a Ministry of Truth.
Why hasn’t someone thought of this before? :)
Ironic that the times presents incidents of people trying to spread the truth to justify a reality czar. The democrats have been deploying doublespeak for decades, conditioning the masses to believe what they are told, contrary to what is real.
This is a democrats wet dream.
Liberals don’t just focus on what you say and do.
Now they insist on ensuring you think properly.
Yeah, Qanon is a crazy delusion. No doubt.
But why on earth should they care if this crazy set of ideas is allowed to circulate?
After all, they are OK with the Jihadi and communist philosophies, both of which seek to overturn not only the USA but 1,000 years of Western culture.
Never “welcomed” however as ugly as the source is, this is still free republic. I think.
