Paris court finds French state guilty in landmark lawsuit over climate inaction

A group of NGOs backed by two million citizens had filed a complaint accusing the French state of failing to act to halt climate change, in what has been dubbed the "case of the century".

In its ruling on Wednesday, the Paris court said the French state had failed to meet its obligations and ordered it to pay the symbolic sum of 1 euro in compensation for "moral prejudice".

An international accord signed in Paris five years ago aims to limit global warming to less than 2 degrees Celsius over pre-industrial levels, and preferably to 1.5 degrees.

But experts say governments are far from meeting their commitments and anger is growing among the younger generation over inaction, symbolised by the campaigns of Swedish teenager Greta Thunberg.

The French case is part of a mounting push from climate campaigners across the world to use courts.

How do people become so narcissistically stupid as to imagine themselves controlling the climate of the planet?

Seems like courts are entirely the wrong place to be deciding things like this. Legislative bodies exist for a reason. Can’t imagine what remedy was ordered...

“ordered it to pay the symbolic sum of 1 euro in compensation for “moral prejudice”.

Oh. It was one of those.

The governments of Europe don’t have the money to support the former Kings, Queens and royalty in most nations, but France as well as Italy and Germany need illegal deals in oil, sales of nuclear technology/equipment, etc. Belgium still owns it’s overseas African operations via management agreements. The Dutch sell 90% of the world’s illegal drugs in form of pills. England, Belgium, The Netherlands, Luxemburg, all deal with the Royals. Having a government class and a serf class has never changed.

“Paris court finds French state guilty in landmark lawsuit over climate inaction”

This is EXACTLY why the Left wants us to approve the Paris Climate Accord (such a pleasant sounding name, ehhh).

Once approved, then ALL DEBATE on it’s implementation and ALL DEBATE on energy policy (including whether it was wise to outlaw beef) is ended, and they simply use their judges to enforce everything, in whatever way they decide.

This is a straightforward case of a French court usurping the legislative function. U.S. courts have been doing this for a long time. This is a long-running constitutional crisis; the question is whether we are self-governing through elected legislatures or governed by a dictatorship of judges.

In this instance the fine against the French state was a euro.

If the US approves the Paris Climate Accord, and if a EU court decides to fine us, I think the fine would be a trillion dollars. Because that’s basically the whole idea.

Wonder how many of those people stopped driving cars, using electricity, smoking, etc. You know, doing their own part to help protect the climate :0)

He should have sent the French government to jail for twenty years - that would teach ‘em!

Idiots does not even begin to describe this sh*t.
Guilty for something that has been taking place for millions of years? Apparently, Man has replaced God and thinks he can do miracles despite alleged ‘climate inaction.’ The utter idiocy.

Pay them one Euro.

Say it’s the new exchange rate.

(It might soon be.)
