Gov. Newsom gave schools a deadline for reopening grants. Here's why they're waiting

Today is the deadline Gov. Gavin Newsom set for California school districts to apply for a portion of the $2 billion in grants he wants the state to set aside to help them safely return to in-person instruction.

"We would like to have schools reopened in the safest manner possible," Assembly Budget Chair Phil Ting, D-San Francisco, said at a hearing last week. "However, I also don't want to repeat the same mistake that we made in this last budget, where we gave districts resources to open up and we did not see that happen."

Since then, teacher unions and district administrators have expressed concerns about the quick turnaround. They say it's simply too risky to consider reopening while the state remains a COVID-19 hotspot and new variants of the virus begin to spread in the U.S.

Also, in order to reopen under guidelines Newsom recommends, county transmission rates need to be below 25 cases per 100,000 people — a metric few areas of the state are even close to meeting.

For instance, the state suggests schools in counties with the highest case rates, 14 per 100,000 people, conduct weekly asymptomatic testing of students and staff.

"There's many schools that are just not going to be able to do that, feasibly," said Assemblyman James Gallagher, R-Yuba City.

The WHO,on Jan 20 put out a directive saying that a single positive test without symptoms should no longer be counted as a “case”. A person needs either a second positive test or symptoms to count as a case. When will the CHC begin following this directive?

The Ministry of Truth media will probably make all the credit go to the masks because Biden is identified with wearing a mask to “keep us safe.”

They certainly would not want Americans to know that the world health organization and then the CDC changed the rules for what counts as a positive test and even with a positive test what counts as a case. Fewer cases means fewer people dying of COVID-19. People will start to die from the flu, COPD, pneumonia, emphysema, etc again.

Just my opinion (and I will probably catch hell for it) but I think we should deliberately infect EVERY man, woman, and child.

We will exclude those over 60 and those with pre existing conditions; make sure they are vaccinated first and keep the quarantine in place around them for 1 (ONE) month.

99.99 percent will live and be immune, that 0.01 percent who will die would probably have died from accidents, murders, or just plain boredom anyway.

Herd immunity is achieved and we can get on with our lives.

How do you know they’re infected asyies unless you test them? Asyies are at risk for some of the same physiological and brain damage as symptomatics exhibiting breathing difficulties. And, they are subject to repeat infections and corresponding spread of the virus. IF someone is asyie, they need to know, and they need follow-up care, too, to watch for adverse neurological, mental, and cardiac events. Recovered doesn’t always mean ‘fully’ recovered when it comes to this little bug. And Asymptomatic doesn’t mean immune or unable to spread the virus. So, yes, they need to be identified. Especially while the virus continues to mutate:

A Ct value does not indicate how much virus is present, but only whether or not viral genetic material was detected at a defined threshold. RT-PCR tests can be either qualitative or quantitative, and this affects how a Ct value is interpreted. As of October 23, 2020, all diagnostic RT-PCR tests that had received a U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for SARS-CoV-2 testing were qualitative tests.

1. In a qualitative RT-PCR test, known amounts of virus are used during the development of the test to determine what Ct values are associated with positive and negative specimens. The Ct value is interpreted as positive or negative but cannot be used to determine how much virus is present in an individual patient specimen.
2. ..., a quantitative RT-PCR test cannot determine how much virus is present in an individual patient specimen.

Ct values should not be used to determine a patient’s viral load, how infectious a person may be, or when a person can be released from isolation or quarantine.

An RT-PCR test uses multiple repeating amplification cycles to create more and more copies of the virus’ genetic material. mens with lower amounts of virus will require more cycles to amplify that genetic material to reach an amount that can be detected, resulting in a higher Ct value. Thus, there is a correlation between the Ct value and the amount of starting viral genetic material that was present in the specimen.

It is therefore problematic to infer any relationship between an individual patient’s Ct value and their viral load. 

What they are saying is the higher the cycle rate of the test, the harder that test has to work to detect whatever the target is and the results cannot be sole deteriminent as viruses, germs and other organisms influence the test.
