Republicans who have supported Donald Trump's impeachment from South Dakota to South Carolina are getting a painful reminder of just how powerful the former president remains within the Republican Party ranks.
Rep. Tom Rice was the latest to feel the wrath of Trump supporters when the South Carolina state GOP voted to censure him this weekend for his vote two weeks ago supporting the House Democrats impeachment article.
"Trying to impeach a president, with a week left in his term, is never legitimate and is nothing more than a political kick on the way out the door," state GOP Chairman Drew McKissick said after Saturday's vote. "Congressman Rice's vote unfortunately played right into the Democrats' game, and the people in his district, and ultimately our State Executive Committee, wanted him to know they wholeheartedly disagree with his decision."
Rice has said he knows his vote could cost him the seat he has held since 2013, but was unbowed after Saturday's vote, saying he "will never cower before any master, save my God."
Rice is hardly alone. Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., traveled all the way to Wyoming last week to rally against Rep. Liz Cheney, the No. 3 House Republican, after she was the highest ranking Republican to vote for Trump's impeachment.
"Defeat Liz Cheney in this upcoming election,” Gaetz argued, “and Wyoming will bring Washington to its knees."
Anthony Bouchard, a Wyoming state senator who is launching a primary challenge to Cheney, said he's been inundated with support. "I believe that her impeachment vote revealed who she has allegiance to, and I don't think the voters will forget it any time soon," Bouchard told CNN.

For me, GOP ratified its collapse and irrelevance on Jan 6 when they voted to accept the election without complaint. If the biggest xerox machine wins, just how do they think they are going to take it back in 2022?
No politician who stood silent about the fraud is worthy of support, so the ones who actively attacked Trump, it goes without saying, should be turned out of office whatever it takes. I doubt it will be a problem; who will vote for them?
What about this idiot Kinzinger calling for the GOP to “de-Trumpify”...the GOP needs to get to work on that. He’s essentially trying to split the party.
“Rice has said he knows his vote could cost him the seat he has held since 2013, but was unbowed after Saturday’s vote, saying he “will never cower before any master, save my God.””
Unfit for office if he does not see the voters of his district as his master. We do not elect fuhrers, we elect representatives.
The “split” in the GOP is not 50% - 50% RINO vs MAGA. The split is 92% to 8% MAGA over RINO!!!
President Trump did the world a favor exposing the fraud of government. Whether Democrat, Independent, or Republican, Americans cannot pretend their vote means anything after the Uniparty rigged the election in broad daylight with impunity.
What fool would vote in a rigged election? We're going to see incredible Kabuki Theater as the Uniparty desperately tries to sell the lie that there was no election fraud and that Lucy won't pull the football away on Charlie Brown next time.
For those who think 2022 will be different, it's like the abused spouse believing their abuser is sorry for punching them in the face.
The bigger concern for the leadership of the GOP should be that even Trump himself could not get his own supporters out to drag the carcasses of those two useless backs across the finish line in the Georgia Senate run-off elections.
“I know many Freepers would also like to see some payback so please check the list and see if you can help either through a donation or getting involved. (WY, IL, SC, ND) “
Yes, call the House traitors and tell the person/machine that you can’t wait to donate to their primary candidate.
Start with Wyoming State Senator Bouchard.
This is the language they understand and hate.
You're asking the wrong question. Our current crop of RINOs aren't concerned about which party is in control. Our current crop of RINOs was only concerned because POTUS Trump was preventing them from their graft and corruption revenue.
Our current crop of RINOs is only interested in getting back to business as usual.
“please check the list”
I read the article, and the “dig in” tab, but didn’t find a list. What am I doing wrong?
Sorry, there is no list but the states with them in I mean..
Early days yet but there is already a challenger in WY to Liz Cheney.
Cruz is on the warpath against Trump, again.
I wonder how that plays out with Texans.

That’s disturbing.
Thanks. We are paying attention.
Nobody in TN voted to impeach, but Blackburn and Hagerty voted to certify the fraud election, so THEY MUST GO!! They’re on our “list”.
Good.
“That’s disturbing.”
Cruz is very immature, in a political sense, and he simply keeps showing that, time after time. It’s not hard, not hard at all, to understand the base and what we want, but he simply thinks he knows what’s best for us.
And it said for Cruz, because all he had to do with simply PLAY ALONG, starting in 2016 - he was already trusted by the base. He didn’t have to put his head out to get chopped off (to prove his conservative creds), just had to support Trump at the convention (like ever other speaker) and keep his damn trap shut if Trump’s complaints about election fraud bothered him.
a whole bunch of Republicans were trying to suck up to the UniParty when they successfully frauded the President out of his second term.
theres lots of credits to be had in DC for those help making that happen...and for making sure he’s convicted on the “new evidence” that is “intended to appear” during this farcical “trial”, 45 Senators vote otherwise not withstanding.
Thats why there remains a fence around Capitol Hill
They are NOT republicans IMHO they are members of the American Communist party......
Throw those bums out.
