Not much here in Scituate, all rain no snow, and windy.
Surf was up as usual. -Tom

In Manhattan today and that 17 inches is now down to about four inches of dirty slush. Business have employees shoving the mess aside into the streets and down the storm drains so most of the sidewalks are now clear. Snow never lasts very long in the city.

How much did you end up with?

Possibly more today, hopefully it will just be freezing rain. Then...at least a week of bitter cold.

About 8 inches here.

Snowing again as I type this. Winter shows up late but with a fury.

That should keep the peasants indoors with their viruses.

15 inch fluffy light powder

2-week forecast shows continued autumn weather thru 18th. Spring starts 3/01.

So winter has an 11-day window to attempt arrival

I just wish my firewood weren’t under the snow

Surviving without a car?

I biked around New Haven for 2 years in the 90’s, including 2 snowy winters.

Lucky I didn’t get run over by a truck

In 1973 I lived right here, about 70 or so miles inland from Myrtle Beach. We had 17 inches of perfect powder of the sort that the skiers love. An hour south of here some places had up to 25 inches. People were stuck on the interstates waiting for helicopters to rescue them, I knew one man who spent three days at a gas station with his wife and children. I was fortunate to be at home with my wife where I stayed for a week before I could go back to work and we had food, gas heat and electricity. At the time I was assured that people further North dealt with that much snow as if it were nothing but now It seems that the same amount of snow is considered a major problem even far to the North of here at the intersection of I-95 and I-20.

By the way, shortly before the storm struck the weather report predicted snow with, “possible HEAVY accumulations of up to FIVE inches in some areas.”

when I was a kid growing up in upstate NY, we had rain one year at Christmas....and nothing much happened until Easter came and we had a huge snowfall on Easter Sunday!

snow happens.....

I wouldn't trade the 4 seasons for nothing....I could never live in constant heat and sun....

On this day in 11,231 BC, the snow over northern Indiana measured 1.2 miles deep. (more or less) Natives were anxiously waiting for a thaw.

You should see the little Greenies heads explode when I show them the amount of ice that covered the northern US at one time.

“Don’t know why...”

They do it for ratings. Which is more likely to bring in viewers, a forecast of a dusting or a 12” snowstorm?

You’re right. It makes more sense, and sounds scarier, so that people would vote for democrats to strip them of their liberty.

The sheeple will demand some kind of gummint response to fight this crisis. I am guessing a $1.00/gallon gas tax for starters.
