Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Friday announced stricter restrictions on travelers in response to new, likely more contagious variants of the novel coronavirus — including making it mandatory for travelers to quarantine in a hotel at their own expense when they arrive in Canada and suspending airline service to Mexico and all Caribbean destinations until April 30.
“Travelers will then have to wait for up to three days at an approved hotel for their test results, at their own expense, which is expected to be more than $2,000,” Trudeau said..The steep cost for the hotel stay includes the cost for a private PCR test, security, food and the cost of measures the designated hotels will have to take to keep their workers safe.

The prime minister said those with positive tests will be immediately required to quarantine in designated government facilities to make sure they’re not carrying variants of particular concern.
Trudeau also said the government and Canada’s main airlines have agreed to suspend service to sun destinations right away. He said Air Canada, WestJet, Sunwing, and Air Transat are cancelling air service to all Caribbean destinations and Mexico starting Sunday until April 30.
“They will be making arrangements with their customers who are currently on a trip in these regions to organize their return flights,” Trudeau said.

Oh my, It seems I have lost my credit card!
.
Luckily for Trudeau that his name isn't Donald J Trump, or the screams of "YOU JUST HATE ALL PEOPLE WITH BROWN SKINS!!!" would be deafening.
If the government is demanding the quarantine, then they should be the ones paying for it.
No tan for you!
but we’re the bad ones for stopping illegals at our doorstep....
At northern latitudes, the angle of the sun isn't good for vitamin D production from September to April.
"Seattle, Washington: It’s not possible to produce Vitamin D outdoors from the beginning of September to the second week of April."
"The Angle Of The Sun And Vitamin D Production - In order for the sun to stimulate your Vitamin D production, the sun needs to be at a minimum of about 50 degrees, or greater, above the horizon (90% would be directly overhead)."

Summary execution for those testing positive?
We have relatives in Canada—don’t expect to see them until we are a hundred years old, or Trudeau is tried for treason, whichever comes first.
Oh for Christ sake. It’s a f’ing virus and viruses mutate. So every time a new strain of the China flu comes along their going to shut down the country. If that’s the case no one will ever be able to go to Canada. This really has become the theater of the absurd.
Well ... if I want to enter Canada without going through all this trouble, there’s apparently a partially completed empty pipeline that I can use to sneak under the border. :-P
Add a cart with brake lever and you have an Alpine Slide.
Racist and Xenophobic. Reeks or fear mongering.....
This will eliminate people from “Gold Rush” and “The Curse of Oak Island” who already had difficulties entering Canada under the old restrictions.
Not that that is necessarily a bad thing. Both those shows have morphed into yet another shallow parody of their original premise, with the Lagina brothers going completely off the rails.
Gold rush is not a parody but TCOI gets tiresome with never quite getting something significant on each show - half of the things they find could have been blown in during storms over the centuries.
Finding tunnels at 200 feet made in the 1700s is interesting, but not conclusive of anything.
It just entertainment, without throwing Woke crap in ones face, is the redeeming feature of both.
