States have many factors to consider when allocating their scarce vaccine doses: the age of recipients, medical conditions that put people at risk, and jobs that put workers in contact with the public, to name a few. A committee in Oregon is considering an unusual recommendation to allocate vaccines by race. The proposal is intended to address inequities but would invite legal challenges to a vaccination program that has already been off to a rocky start.
The state's COVID-19 Vaccine Advisory Committee is a group of 27 individuals tasked with devising "a vaccine sequencing plan focused on health equity to ensure the needs of systemically affected populations, including communities of color, tribal communities and people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, are met." The committee's members include representatives from health providers as well as community groups such as the Oregon Pacific Islander Coalition and the Somali American Council of Oregon. Although decision making responsibility ultimately lies with the Oregon Health Authority and Governor Kate Brown, the state has pledged to follow the committee's recommendations.
The committee concluded its first meeting in early January unable to agree even on endorsing the efficacy of coronavirus vaccines. (Both the Moderna and Pfizer/BioNTech vaccines are remarkably effective.) At the most recent meeting on January 21, the committee deliberated who should be next in line for vaccinations after healthcare workers, senior care residents, teachers, and several other groups.

First would be African Americans.
Second would be American Indians and Alaska Natives.
Third would be Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.
Fourth would be Hispanics.
Fifth would be LBGTQ+ Community.
Sixth would be People of Color (not already included).
Seventh would be Undocumented Immigrants.
Eighth would be Whites.
maybe if they could get a famous black athlete to take it, like Hank Aaron uhhh.. never mind
Just reinstitute slavery while you’re at it and give white people 3/4 of a vote.
The case for vitamin D deficiency is circumstantial, but pervasive.
I feel sorry for them if there is some kind of RNA or DNA factor in getting sick more often. I wish medical science could conquer this. Sounds like sickle cell anemia for black people and Tay-Sachs disease for Jewish people. And more macular degeneration for blue eyed people.
Diabetes mainly driven by obesity is higher among blacks rather than among japanese. Those are the 2 most commons causes of death relating to CV19.
Also chronic low levels of D3
The civil rights activist types were putting pressure on Nebraska Governor and the county health departments here to prioritize blacks and Hispanics over elderly, etc. I don’t think they got any concessions.
Around here, the reasoning was that people of color have less access to health care.
Which I am not buying. They actually get free health care a lot more often than many of the rest of us, I expect.
It’s been a real pleasure knowing you Mr. Nas Carnation. Where should we send the flowers? Are Carnations ok?
I don’t want to sound off base here, but I’m all for allowing 15% of the population be guinea pigs.
I’m going to get the vaccine, but I don’t mind giving others a 3-4 month head start.
Watch the fur fly when they come up with vaccines for “whites only” and “coloreds only”...
Critical Race Theory that is now taught in nearly all American universities says; If you are white and male, you are bad.
Here we see its inevitable result in Oregon.

Actually, the phrase predates Palin by a bunch. Rather interestingly Obama used it, supposedly, to refer to Palin.
Here’s an article.

Here is the problem with raced based stories about Oregon.
Black 1.8%
A Indians 1.4%
Asian 3.7%
Pacific Isle .3%
Hispanics. 11.7%
LBGTQ ? The lesbians in this state are
humorless assholes.
Some other race 5.3%
2 or more races. 3.8%
White. 83.6% If this group lives in an urban area,
look for a lot of leftist stupidity.
Undocumented ? Most of this group disappeared 5-10
years ago.
If you aren’t White or Hispanic, then your numbers are miniscule. However the Oregon government is completely incompetent, so Whites & Hispanics should start receiving vaccinations sometime in 2022.
The way this is turning out, minorities, women, and politicians are going to get the jab, and white men aren’t.
This is the first time that reverse racism is actually going to work for me.
As a fat old guy, I am much more likely to die from the big killers - cardiovascular disease, cancer and stroke - than the average American.
A reduced risk of dying from COVID-19 is not something that I might have guessed by listening to the MSM and St. Fauci.
I believe very strongly that the differing rates and severity of COVID infections is (at least partially) due to genetics.
it was nice knowing ya!
Hispanics in the 3 counties north of Gay Frisco have a higher infection rate and a high death rate.
