Biden aims for most ambitious US effort on climate change
The Associated Press ^ | January 27, 2021 | By MATTHEW DALY and ELLEN KNICKMEYER

In what would the most ambitious U.S. effort ever to stave off the worst effects of climate change, President Joe Biden is aiming to cut oil, gas and coal emissions and double energy production from offshore turbines through executive orders.

The orders awaiting his signature target federal subsidies for oil and other fossil fuels and halt new oil and gas leases on federal lands and waters.

They also intend to conserve 30 percent of the country’s lands and ocean waters in the next 10 years, move to an all-electric federal vehicle fleet and elevate climate change to a national security priority. The conservation plan would set aside millions of acres for recreation, wildlife and climate efforts by 2030 as part of Biden’s campaign pledge for a $2 trillion program to slow global warming.

In a change from previous administrations of both parties, Biden is directing agencies to focus help and investment on the low-income and minority communities that live closest to polluting refineries and other hazards, and the oil- and coal-patch towns that face job losses as the U.S. moves to sharply increase its reliance on wind, solar and other other energy sources that do not emit climate-warming greenhouse gases.

President Donald Trump, who ridiculed the science of climate change, withdrew the U.S. from the Paris global climate accord, opened more public lands to coal, gas and oil production and weakened regulation on fossil fuel emissions. Experts say these emissions are heating the Earth’s climate dangerously and worsening floods, droughts and other natural disasters.

Georgia Tech climate scientist Kim Cobb called the executive orders an “excellent start” for the Biden administration.

“If this Day 7 momentum is representative of this administration’s 4-year term, there is every reason to believe that we might achieve carbon neutrality sooner than 2050,” Cobb said.

Just toss these on the table in gay Paris.

1. Define the “correct” temperature range for the planet.

2. Define the “correct” humidity range for the planet.

3. Define the “correct” mean sea level for the planet.

4. Define the “correct” amount of precipitation for the planet.

5. Define the “correct” makeup of the atmosphere.

6. Define the “correct” amount of sea ice at the N/S poles.

7. Define/explain past glaciation and subsequent warming without any input from humans.

This is the single issue that concerns me about the next two years. Climate change is an utter hoax designed to permit the government to have a hand in every aspect of every life.

Will it be legal to make candles so we can see in the dark? How bout oil for our kerosene lanterns? Will they be taxing our horse buggys by the mile?

I will be investing in buggy whip manufacturers, horse powered farm equipt, canning supplies, wood stoves if allowed, and infant clothing-what else is there to do after dark?

Buyden health and stamina is such that he couldn’t tell you much about what is in the “most ambitious” climate agenda. It has been completely assembled for him, like 17 EOs. He’s a Trojan horse, this and a lot of other leftist garbage is being shoved in front of him.

What are the federal subsidies for oil and other fossil fuels?
I read somewhere that this is the normal write-offs on losses every business uses for tax purposes.

This blurb caught my eye: move to an all-electric federal vehicle fleet. Since the DoD is a federal agency, are all land vehicles going to be retrofitted to comply with this order? Reality has an answer but are these doddering fools so myopic to not see the forest for the trees???

The most fun thing to do when people are saying the US needs to do more to stop emissions is to show them an air particulate map of the world.

I start in the US. Then I show them China.

The US is not the problem.

Meanwhile China and India are building hundreds of new coal-fired power plants. So anything Bidet does will have ZERO effect on the “climate”, but will make us a third world ecomomy. Wonderful.

Last figures I could find has the government civilian vehicle fleet at 640,000 vehicles. Do they think they can keep all those vehicles on the road with batteries charged by wind and solar?

Biden is aiming to cut oil, gas and coal emissions and double energy production from offshore turbines through executive orders.

Is this legal? He is trying to set up rule by fiat, which is way beyond the Constitutional authority of a president. My understanding is that executive orders are meant to direct how to comply with existing law. They are not supposed to be a vehicle to impose new law. He's acting as a supreme dictator, not a president.

They also intend to conserve 30 percent of the country’s lands and ocean waters in the next 10 years, move to an all-electric federal vehicle fleet and elevate climate change to a national security priority.

I wonder if environmental whackos have even considered the effect on earthly life if the atmospheric concentration of carbon dioxide is decreased. At some point, the concentration will be in the range where the most sensitive plants can no longer extract CO2 from the air. As they die and decay, of course, their rotting bodies will release CO2 into the air, so that the concentration will not substantially change until those plants have all died. At that point, further reduction of CO2 can take place until the next most sensitive plant species are affected. And so on.

Of course, as plant life is affected, so is other life. The amount of biomass decreases, and the concentration of oxygen also decreases. Eventually, if the schemes to reduce CO2 in the air are taken that far, the earth becomes incapable of supporting life.

I also wonder if the whackos have considered whether a fossil fuel free economy is actually environmental. Since fossil fuels are also necessary to run most power plants, and they do not want to increase electricity generation, how are all of those electric cars going to run? And if people turn to other than internally propelled vehicles for transportation--where are all the horses going to be kept, and are horses REALLY environmentally friendly? My understanding is that they create a lot of waste and consume a lot of fuel. Cities and towns will become stinky, at the least. Do all of those ignorant city dwellers imagine that they will maintain their standard of living without good reliable energy? Are large cities even possible in their fantasy fuel-free utopia? (Yet they want to force everyone into mega-cities.)

There are so many impossibilities in what Biden is trying to dictate that it hurts my brain to think about it.
