Elected, yes. Appointed, I am not sure.

Their state regulations do not seem to cover this situation.

It’s Vermont. If Republican governor replaces him it will be with a Republican replacement a little to the left of Susan Collins. That is not so good. The good thing is that the majority goes back to the Republicans and McConnell gets to take the senate agenda back from Schumer and keep the filibuster rule assuring no statehood for DC and PR. Also the crazier left wing judges Biden wants to seat will go down in flames.

Term limits were needed 40+ years ago.

The pols just cannot leave the stage and the applause. ego tripping.

The British stage play Beyond the Fringe with Peter Cook and Dudley Moore had a scene where an old coal miner was musing with his buddies.

"What will happen if you get too old to work the mines? Just can't do it any more."

"I thought about it. If I get too old and can't think, always getting confused and losing my memory. If I become useless for coal mining I would have to take up another line of work like becoming a judge."

We in the US would add Congress.

Zander Landin article in VT news website, 5:16pm:After a brief hospitalization Tuesday evening, U.S. Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., said Wednesday that he has a “clean bill of health.”

He was back in the Capitol on Wednesday morning to open up a Senate session. Later, he told reporters in Washington, D.C., that he had sought medical care after experiencing muscle spasms late Tuesday.

Leahy, 80, said he was confident he would be able to serve out the rest of his term, which expires in two years. The eight-term senator said he had not yet decided whether he would run again in 2022 — and would not decide until the end of this year.

I saw this last night and thought the bastard dead. I was thereafter too disappointed to freep.

There are many others I’d sooner see vacant

WV
MT
OH

We would hold those

GA
AZ

Truly a disaster, this Senate.

Is Bitch McC man enough to take over the Senate as long as Leaky is absent? 50 is more than 49.

Partner, Patrick Leahy is in the hospital since he will be 81 yrs. old and still a Senator.

Diane Feinstein is 87 years of age as Senator from California.

Heck, let us look at the House where we have Pelousy is 81 years of age, Clyburn will be 81 pretty soon, Stenny Hoyer will be 82 years of age, so forth and so on.

The House DemonRat Party has got a good case of Alzheimer/Dementia and they need to be replace pretty soon.

Heck, they do not want to be replaced because where else can they be paid and not lift a finger.

Last time I checked in the Constitution of the U.S.A "You Can Not Impeach if the President Has Left The Presidency."

You can only Impeach a POTUS to remove him from office.

Of course, I repeat this since the "House is Full of "Alzheimer's/Dementia DemonRat patients."
