Sen. Patrick Leahy, the Vermont Democrat who is set to preside over the upcoming impeachment trial of former President Donald Trump, was taken to a Washington hospital on Tuesday afternoon after “not feeling well,” his spokesman said.

The New Yorkers did some damage, but the real problem is that the old school VT GOP back in the mid-century made the fateful decision to become a left-wing party and ran or shut out the Conservatives (under the Gibson Family and Sen. George Aiken, the latter of whom handed his seat to Patrick Leahy in 1974). Virtually every major Republican since then in the state has been on the left, with few exceptions (and the ones that aren’t tend to be undermined, for obvious reasons).

The Constitution requires a Senator be a resident of the state from which they are elected, and presumably that would apply to the time at which they are appointed. A senator is required to be a US citizen for at least nine years, but there is no stipulation on how long they must be a resident of the state they represent. That is how carpet bagger/carpet muncher Hillary! became a senator from New York despite never having lived there...
Back in the day, when Leahy was a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee , he released confidential information that resulted in the deaths of American servicemen. He has damaged US interests overseas repeatedly.

And now in his fumbling old age , having already suffered several heart attacks , he presumes to preside over a kangaroo court impeachment of one of the greatest Presidents in the history of our nation.
Perhaps Divine Providence has arranged for an early exit forSenator Leahy.
