Senator Rand Paul @RandPaul The Senate just voted on my constitutional point of order.
45 Senators agreed that this sham of a “trial” is unconstitutional.
That is more than will be needed to acquit and to eventually end this partisan impeachment process.

I think they will continue it just to drag President Trump’s good name through the mud. They figure some of it will stick and make it harder for him to get elected and hold office again, even if they cannot constitutionally prevent him from running.
Pelosi and the clown car she pilots already trivialized the impeachment procedure with their first action against Trump; this extra-constitutional sham only further serves to make a mockery of the whole concept of impeachment.
Pelosi might as well send an article of impeachment to the Senate every week for the duration of this Congress, for all those would be worth - the members of the Senate can use them for scratch paper or bird cage liner, or employ them as needed when they have to take a bathroom break.

How can you convict with 67 votes when 45 Senators say it is unconstitutional? Game, set, and match. Why proceed?
