Several Republican lawmakers are getting criticized by their state’s party leadership. This comes as the Republican parties of Arizona and Allegan County in Michigan voted to censure several elected officials.

The censure votes, which formally express discontent for party members, comes amid backlash over both states turning blue in the general election. Additionally, party members are being called out for supporting Democrat efforts to impeach President Trump for a second time.

“The Republican Party here is not just here to elect Republicans, it’s here to hold Republicans accountable to the party platform,” stated Tyler Bower, national committeeman for the Arizona GOP. “Party discipline means adherence to the party platform, party discipline means pulling someone aside behind closed doors and saying ‘you’re not living by the party platform.’ How do we fix this?”

Forget censuring and removing from committees. These people need to be tapped on the shoulder and told to resign. If not, it’s all just theater.

How exactly is Cindy McCain affected by a GOP censure?

I wonder who holds the record for most censures among active congressmen. I know Lindsey Graham has at least one or more.

This is true also of the behind the scenes power brokers too. They need to resign as well or it means nothing.

I think this is where we stand on the 10 Representatives who voted to impeach Donald Trump:

Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming (censured)

Rep. Anthony Gonzalez of Ohio

Rep. Jamie Herrera-Beutler of Washington (resolution of disappointment)

Rep. John Katko of New York

Rep. Adam Kinzinger of Illinois

Rep. Peter Meijer of Michigan (censure)

Rep. Dan Newhouse of Washington (resolution of disappointment)

Rep. Tom Rice of South Carolina

Rep. Fred Upton of Michigan (censured)

Rep. David Valadao of California

Not worthless. It keeps them in the news and encourages primary oppenents to step up. I think the resolution asking them to resign is also sending a message. Better than letting them go to DC and continually voting against the will of their voters.

People are once again are being hoodwinked by these GOP stooges. It’s amazing how many times these people can get the hood slammed on their heads and not learn a thing. This is all a choreographed con job.

We had two RINOs from Michigan vote to impeach Trump. Neither are in my district, but whoever runs against them in the Primary in 2022 gets my money.

I agree these censure motions are theater. As I see it, these motions are brought on by a belated recognition that the Republican Party has done enormous damage to itself by its lackluster support not only for the President but for his 74+ million supporters. I think this is too little too late. The Party needs to be redone from top to bottom as one that actually represents the vast majority of Americans who care about our history and who want only the opportunity to work hard and to succeed by their efforts.
