It's Happening Already: Joe Biden Calls a Lid Four Days Into Presidency

Joe Biden’s campaigning from his basement and frequent lids, where Biden was kept away from the media, were a common punchline in conservative media. “How can Joe run a campaign from his basement and hiding from the media?” “How can he be trusted to run the country if he can’t handle a campaign?”

Even when he did leave the basement he got questions about milkshakes. There were times when Joe Biden wouldn’t be seen for days. His campaign told us that it was because of debate prep, but no one actually believed it.

But the campaign is over now. Regardless of whether you believe Biden was legitimately elected, he has the job he applied for, the job we were told repeatedly by his campaign he was fit to handle. So it’s more than a bit concerning that on Saturday, a mere four days into his presidency, Kelly O’Donnell, the White House correspondent for NBC News, reported that the White House had called a lid, and Biden would not be seen in public for the rest of the day.

The White House calls a "lid" on the first Saturday of this administration so we will not see President Biden for any public event the rest of the day.

This isn’t even funny anymore. It never actually was funny, but now it’s far more serious. Biden and his campaign assured the country he was perfectly fit and able to handle the duties of president, and yet Biden is already being hidden from the media four days into the job.

When President Trump got COVID-19, he didn’t let that stop him from running the country, even as Biden called another lid.

This is totally the first time Democrats have ever covered for an aging and ailing president. Like, they would never have pretended someone didn’t have polio and hide it from the nation....

As I stated above, virtually everybody knew FDR had polio. The press certainly did not show him in a wheel chair or show his braces, but he co-founded the March of Dimes charity which was a polio charity, and the press did cover his trips to Warm Springs which was a polio treatment center. And his polio did not affect his ability to be President (except for visiting coal mines, etc, which Eleanore did in his place).

His declining health in ‘44-’45 the press did try to keep quiet about, but I guess you can excuse that as a war measure. People who were alive at the time certainly seemed to be surprised and shocked by his death.

I think for the real coverup, you have to go to Woodrow Wilson’s situation after his stroke. That, of course, did impair his ability to govern, or even brush his teeth I imagine. I think that is the better parallel for what we’ll likely be seeing soon.

It was always an open question how long the charade can last. Comrade Joe is showing the sort of decline that is neither linear nor predictable. The question, therefore, isn't whether, but when they'll have to replace him. He can't hide under a CoVid smoke screen forever.

It's really up to the media to allow the Dem faithful to stay in denial. It is those faithful that have to be conditioned to the transition, not the rest of us who know what Joe is and can't be lulled to accepting the candy-coated fantasy world they're already trying to sell. I'm not personally worried about Joe having the nuclear codes but I am worried about who does.

Obama never ran anything either. He read some speeches, got his pat on the head and went to play golf or on vacations. Val Jarrett was running the show. Obama not running it now.
