Protesters block roads, hurl rocks at police after string of crackdowns on synagogues, educational institutions stokes tensions between Haredi factions and law enforcement; officer fires warning shot in the air after becoming surrounded by large crowds
Hundreds of members of the extremist ultra-Orthodox Jerusalemite Faction blocked roads in the city of Bnei Brak on Sunday in protest against the government's coronavirus measures.
Protest leaders defined it as an action against what they deemed as "the government's decision to restrict the movement of the ultra-Orthodox public in any way possible while using violent and tyrannical methods reserved for regimes we thought passed from the world"....

They’re kind of nutty, but I wish we’d all done that when these lockdowns started.
Where, again?
Israel in the Orthodox Jewish communities. They have been in the forefront of opening up anyway in their context of their schools, synagogues and ceremonies like funerals and weddings.
They answer to a Higher Authority than the government unlike the enslaved people of other nations.
Really? That’s why they suck up every government service they can.
You rightly identify an issue with these groups of people that has consequences in politics.
A belief in the priority of religious activity over “secular” jobs leading to welfare dependency for people and institutions.
The resentment of secular Israelis over this situation and their political activism in opposition to it reflected in various secular parties of the Left and Right.
Here in the USA conservatives would be very angry no doubt as they realize that sects within Orthodox Judaism will vote for whichever US political party is giving them the benefits.
One sect endorsed Hillary for US Senste once and people asked why? I didn’t need to ask.
I don’t resent people or get angry about it because its too ugly for me.
I was once an Anti-Semite and I can’t go back.
If the recent election were restricted to Orthodox Jews, Trump would have received over 90% of the (legitimate) votes.

After the Chinese city of Wuhan halted outbound flights, trains, buses and ferries in an effort to stop the spread of a deadly new virus, 12 other cities in the province followed suit, bringing more than 36 million people under lockdown. Health officials in Chicago said a woman in her 60s had become the second U.S. patient diagnosed with the new virus; she’d returned from China in mid-January.

Huh? Am I supposed to care?
Times change for the better but this notion of not working secular jobs and living on welfare would PO a lot of folks in this forum.
It’s never too late to start.
True. I saw today that Nutty Newsome is relaxing his shutdowns, obviously to help the faux Biden administration, but I suspect also because he’s getting nervous both about the recall petition and the fact that there actually have been regular (but rarely reported) protests against him and the lockdowns throughout CA.
The Dutch are a very obedient and actually very statist people, and seeing protests there I think is unnerving a lot of other petty tyrants.
