It took Trump 2 yeas of tenacity to stop the immigration caravans and require Mexico to hold refugees on their side. He did an excellent job with all the forces stacked against him. It took basement Joe 1 day to unravel everything and bring the caravans back.

If Texas is going to pull out of what’s left of the United States, we’ll need help from other countries (just as the French helped us in 1776), so if I were The Junta, I’d be careful with Mexico - Trump ended up on excellent terms with that country and there are plenty of Texas, I suspect, that would rather be part of Mexico (at least in a loose way) than under the thumb of The Junta.
