D.C. Mayor Bowser: Dem-Led House, Senate Will Pass D.C. Statehood, Bring It to Biden’s Desk
Breitbart ^ | January 22 2021 | Pam Key

Washington D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser told “Just the News” on Friday that the Democratic-led Senate and House will vote in favor of statehood for the District of Columbia and send the bill to President Joe Biden’s desk, who has expressed support for D.C. statehood in the past.

Bowser said, “The nation’s capital, the federal enclave, continues to exist as the nation’s capital and everything outside of those new boundaries becomes the 51st state. Our congresswoman – we had our first successful vote on statehood in the House of Representatives last year. She reintroduced the bill. She has a record number of sponsors.”

No one should be allowed to declare residency in DC.

Problem solved!

They can’t get rid of the electoral college so they just stack the House and Senate.

If this evil and ultra-corrupt Stalinazi “city-state” of 61 square miles deserves 2 U.S. Senators and a Congressman, let’s go ahead and give every area of the U.S. consisting of that geography a similar number of Senators and Congressmen. All 3.5 MILLION square miles.

Giving us 57,900 states.

Fair is fair.

When the Virginia portions of D.C. were retroceded in the 1840s, why didn’t they get to be a new state? Carve out a small federal enclave around the Capitol Mall & White House and retrocede the rest of the s—thole back to Maryland.

They want to try and do the same thing with Puerto Rico but the people have voted down statehood multiple times in non-binding referendums. Can they force statehood on them?

We’re already IN it. The bullet-ridden corpses of our judiciary, legislative and executive branches by these Stalinazi Satanists are proof positive of that.

How does she figure?

"Now that Democrats have control in the House, the Senate, and the White House, could D.C. get statehood through a simple majority vote?

Answer: Yes, although there would need to be a rule change in the Senate.

In the House of Representatives, a statehood bill would only need a majority vote. In the Senate, a bill typically needs 60 votes to overcome the filibuster.

Some Democrats have already gone on record stating that they are opposed to the removal of the filibuster for votes on statehood."

I said before, we should have admitted Palmyra Atoll as a state and had 3 people “move” there to Senators and a Congressman. There are no longer rules.

When Arlington/Alexandria were led out of DC (1846), the region had an internal vote, and their path was to annex themselves back to Virginia (not to create a state). Virginia had a vote at the state capital and agreed to accept Arlington/Alexandria back....if Congress would approve it. They did, and the deal was done.

One odd piece of history which rarely gets mentioned here. When the District was being designed, a lot of land speculation in Arlington/Alexandria played a role in them being part of DC. Along with that, they had this mindset that commerce would greatly increase.

This was a total failure on land speculation and commerce. Georgetown area of DC ended up the bulk of commerce growth. Virginia itself....also interfered with various projects which would have meant commerce growth for Alexandria.

Interesting info. Thanks. Some here have speculated that if its portions were restored to a statehood version of D.C. withe the district’s original 10 mi by 10 mi borders, Virginia might flip back to red. I don’t know enough about the voter registrations in those parts to have an opinion on this. Thoughts?
