Indoor dining expected to be allowed in Chicago starting Saturday.
CHICAGO - Customers will be allowed back inside of bars and restaurants in Chicago and suburban Cook County beginning Saturday, provided coronavirus infection rates stay down. The city and Cook County will move from Tier 2 to Tier 1 of Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s COVID-19 mitigation plan as long as metrics continue to improve or stay the same, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.

How is this even workable. The restaurants have to deal with food spoilage and back-orders, not to mention complying with COVID regulations. What about labor? What employee is going to make what they made pre-COVID? It wouldn’t surprise me if many of these restaurants remain shut-down.

The logistics of running a restaurant are key. You can only keep food for so long and it’s bad. Suppose you order up the regular supply of food you used this time last year and the government decides next week to close you down again? Or, suppose you have the supplies and few people show up to buy it? Again, disaster.
The government has destroyed thousands of businesses. And, they don’t care. Well, guess what. The landlords are probably close to bankruptcy. The tax revenues from sales and from properties are going to tank. Cities will probably have to declare bankruptcy. Because people have learned many can work from home and home can be in a non tax state, it’s unlikely any blue city or state will recover anytime in the next forty years.
