Will USSC Chief Justice John Roberts preside over an unconstitutional trial?
My money says yes.

For next foreseeable future there will be dueling impeachment dances on the floor of the House.
One to get rid of Trump and another to get rid of Biden.
The dems can't impeach a past president, and the Republicans can't impeach a president who is not really president.
Kabuki much?

How do you impeach a private citizen? Isn’t that a Bill of Attainder?

Good, any Republican voting to convict would be committing political suicide.

There is ZERO possibility with the current composition of the House to have an impeachment bill of Biden move forward. Even if SlowJoe is still around in 2023 when the House likely tips to a Republican majority, it’s not gonna happen.
To: Sirius Lee
Wasn’t he impeached in the House, while still President?
My understanding is that as long as he was impeached by the House while President, the Senate can hold the trial at anytime, even if he left office, with the purpose of banning him from holding office again.

Republicans are already saying they will not vote to convict, outside of the usual gang of idiots, like Romney and Murkowski.

This is how unity is accomplished? Schumer and McConnell should be removed from office. Why don’t they impeach Obama, Clinton and Bush while they’re at it.

As usual, people can interpret things according tho their subconscious- or conscious - wishes. I hope Trump can get good representation, since Bondi and all have begged off and anyone who does take the job will be blacklisted. This is what we have become.
To: Ebenezer
Trump needs to get this in front of the US Supreme Court right now. Congress can not pass a bill of attainder.

That is their wish, but I think they are making up the rules as they go.
This will probably end up going to the supreme court.
