Hey, Dems, You Won't Have to Dig Deep to Get to the Bottom of the National Guard's Eviction at US Capitol

Bronson wrote about this last night. It’s a total disgrace. It’s unforgivable. It’s how this town treats the military. Thousands of National Guardsmen were evicted from the grounds of the US Capitol. They were caught resting in the nearby parking garages. They were deployed to protect the capital from any attack during the inauguration of Joe Biden. The January 6 riot that engulfed the US Capitol was the cause for what could only be described as a military occupation of the city. Luckily, nothing happened when Biden was sworn in as the 46th president of the United States. Yet, for the troops who stood guard, this eviction notice reeked of betrayal (via Politico):

Thousands of National Guardsmen were allowed back into the Capitol Thursday night, hours after U.S. Capitol Police officials ordered them to vacate the facilities, sending them outdoors or to nearby parking garages after two weeks pulling security duty after the deadly riot on Jan. 6.

One unit, which had been resting in the Dirksen Senate Office building, was abruptly told to vacate the facility on Thursday, according to one Guardsman. The group was forced to rest in a nearby parking garage without internet reception, with just one electrical outlet, and one bathroom with two stalls for 5,000 troops, the person said. Temperatures in Washington were in the low 40s by nightfall.

“Yesterday dozens of senators and congressmen walked down our lines taking photos, shaking our hands and thanking us for our service. Within 24 hours, they had no further use for us and banished us to the corner of a parking garage. We feel incredibly betrayed,” the Guardsman said.

The news sparked outrage. Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) vowed to get to the bottom of this mess. Other members of Congress sent messages of thanks to the troops while offering their office space as a place for them to rest. Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-NC) delivered food to some of the guardsmen. Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) appears to have worked hard to ensure all of the guardsmen are cleared from the garage.

They have no choice in the matter (they must do as they are ordered)

Be very careful with that kind of thinking.

Biden is the commander in chief, let the impeachment begin.

It is obvious the left-wing knows nothing about the military and treats them like dogs or yesterday’s garbage.

National Socialists served in Germany and obeyed orders. That’s all I’m saying. Lawful orders.

Never thought I would see the day people on FR mistrust the armed forces, dark days ahead indeed.

I think we've just seen the difference between National Guard/Reserve units and active duty units, i.e. the lack of a chain of command within our "weekend warriors". I'm sure the top brass of these NG units were thrilled to send their soldiers to DC, as it would look great on their next efficiency report.

The current governor of Minnesota was a sergeant major in the state NG. His lack of leadership during the riots astounded me. None of the Sergeants Major that I ever served with would have folded like Walz did.

As to DC, where in Hades was the chain of command of these Guard units? Were there not operations orders established for how they would accomplish their mission?

I was taught as a Platoon Leader, that everything my unit did or failed to do was my responsibility. I'd be raising holy hell if I was a Platoon Leader of Company CO in DC, seeing my troops getting screwed over like this.

I did it when I was on active duty. For example, I was the XO of a 40 man detachment assigned to a German antiaircraft range in Northern Germany. We were the only Americans for 200 miles. When my soldiers weren't getting their paychecks, my First Sergeant and I were working the antiquated German phone system (this was 1979 folks), to get them paid. In one instance, I caught hell for calling a Brigade Commander for help, after exhausting the chain of command. Guess what? Our soldier received his paychecks the next day, personally delivered by jeep in a 400 mile one way trip.

I caught hell again when I unofficially assumed command of my battery, after a series of eff ups from the Battery Cdr and one of our platoon leaders. During the evening meeting before the third and final day, I took 15 minutes to give explicit orders to the 4 platoon leaders and platoon sergeants of what their squads would do the following day. I knew the jobs of every crew member well, as I had taken 3 of the 4 platoons through their own platoon level evaluations.

Little did I know, the evaluation team chief heard every word, every expletive I uttered. As I left the CP and saw him, I thought, "oh crap". However, with a big smile on his face, he said, "LT, that was beautiful." We passed, though it earned me a lousy efficiency report.

I admit it, I was a PITA capable of plenty of mistakes of commission. Over time, those mistakes became fewer and far between.

I'm still a PITA, just ask my wife and kids...lol.

The capital police are under the direct control of House leadership. Nancy must have made that call.

What’s the big deal? They’re US military. They go where and what they’re told. Did they think they were staying forever?

I’d much rather be told to go to a parking garage than Afghanistan.

What even more aggravates me about this mess is the fact that Pelousy lobbied the Chief of Staff of the Army for the military presence. That POS has no place to be involved in anything involving military deployments, orders or any other line function. Her total authority is to pass a defense authorization under her onus or are we now a complete Junta state. That is clearly noted the the Constitution that none of these a holes every spent a second reading.

Folks, given these and other examples, there is no way that Trump could have instigated an insurrection because we have no constitutional government in the first place.

FOX and Friends reported that at the beginning of the program.

Still watching Fox scumbags?

Then again, you (seriously) said that GWB was your favorite president until like a week ago... so you're just all dicked-up and living in the land of the Lawrence Welk bubbles.

WTF

So were the death camp guards. Jerkoff. You need to read a history book. Start with “The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich”. It’s about 1800 pages. Make sure you pay attention to the footnotes.

“ : if you imagine no one can force you to do what you do not want to do - then you have absolutely NO clue about what is coming.”

Every thinking human chooses to or not to do everything in their life up to the moment they are dead, if some gov thug puts a gun to my head and tells me to cooperate in their lawlessness it’s my choice to do their bidding or to accept the death they offer.

The NG troops, being thinking human beings and men and women of good conscious chose to be a part of the farce, the charade that the government thugs offered, they are lucky the worst thing that happened to them is that they had to sleep in a parking garage, the alternative could have been far worse.

The Speaker of the House has sole responsibility for Capital building and grounds security.
