Bronson wrote about this last night. It’s a total disgrace. It’s unforgivable. It’s how this town treats the military. Thousands of National Guardsmen were evicted from the grounds of the US Capitol. They were caught resting in the nearby parking garages. They were deployed to protect the capital from any attack during the inauguration of Joe Biden. The January 6 riot that engulfed the US Capitol was the cause for what could only be described as a military occupation of the city. Luckily, nothing happened when Biden was sworn in as the 46th president of the United States. Yet, for the troops who stood guard, this eviction notice reeked of betrayal (via Politico):
Thousands of National Guardsmen were allowed back into the Capitol Thursday night, hours after U.S. Capitol Police officials ordered them to vacate the facilities, sending them outdoors or to nearby parking garages after two weeks pulling security duty after the deadly riot on Jan. 6.One unit, which had been resting in the Dirksen Senate Office building, was abruptly told to vacate the facility on Thursday, according to one Guardsman. The group was forced to rest in a nearby parking garage without internet reception, with just one electrical outlet, and one bathroom with two stalls for 5,000 troops, the person said. Temperatures in Washington were in the low 40s by nightfall.
“Yesterday dozens of senators and congressmen walked down our lines taking photos, shaking our hands and thanking us for our service. Within 24 hours, they had no further use for us and banished us to the corner of a parking garage. We feel incredibly betrayed,” the Guardsman said.
The news sparked outrage. Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) vowed to get to the bottom of this mess. Other members of Congress sent messages of thanks to the troops while offering their office space as a place for them to rest. Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-NC) delivered food to some of the guardsmen. Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) appears to have worked hard to ensure all of the guardsmen are cleared from the garage.
Who federalized the National Guard. They were not “Guard” when serving as federal troops, called up by the federal government.
Post 118 provides context and an understanding of military law.
While we have disagreed in the past, always respected you.

Thanks. It was not a memorable disagreement because I don’t remember it. I’m not much for remembering online IDs sorry to say.
So thanks for the respect and back at you.
Hope that other guy gets banned.
He is banned.
Damn I wanted to see the Viking Kitties and the zot guns in action again - o the good old days ...
That is an interesting question. So far, not seen anything about it but given that some states have recalled their guard, my guess is the states volunteered to help out without a federalization. Not sure of the legality of that but there is a lot to decompress from all the events those days.
We gave up on Fox the week after the election. You will get better coverage on Newsmax, our new news source. OAN, too. When I watch Fox now, I feel like I’m watching CNN at times. Just can’t stomach the daytime folks.
“”Luckily, nothing happened when Biden was sworn in as the 46th president of the United States.””
Nothing happened? I don’t agree. THAT alone was a catastrophe! We ended up with him in the WH....
The media is (as usual) reprehensible for not saying the obvious, Pelosi is responsible for this, and for the Capitol’s security.
I can’t find an answer to WHY are they still in DC?
I suspect because psychotic Pelosi is moving on Monday with papers introducing another illegal impeachment against a man who is unimpeachable. Her job is baiting the loons by infuriating them, so she’s afraid. Go figure.
“Luckily, nothing happened when Biden was sworn in as the 46th president of the United States.”>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
There was nothing ever going to happen. The whole rush to RISK of Insurrection was theater to create a scene letting the nation know not to question the legitimacy of the stolen election.
because of the Draconian actions now underway, essentially a commie takeover of our nation, the troops are kept in Washingtoin in case the draconian policies of the left cause an Insurrection.
The fact is that the Liberal Fascist’s mistreatment of the NG, the majority of whom are Trump supporters, as they go about creating a totalitarian state, can cause an insurrection by the troops themselves.
I have no problem seeing Pelosi, Schumer,Biden, Harris and the whole gang tarred, feathered and run out of Washington by the NG.
I’m not calling anyone a Nazi. There are limits to obeying orders. That is all.
“”I have no problem seeing Pelosi, Schumer,Biden, Harris and the whole gang tarred, feathered and run out of Washington by the NG.””
Oh! If only!!! Schumer guaranteeing there WILL be a senate trial is like Pelosi’s, “Trump will not be president. You can take that to the bank.”
According to several commenting on TV - Jonathan Turley last night for one, they have to have a “judge” for a senate trial and if the Chief Justice refuses to participate there won’t be a trial. He would clearly have to refuse or violate the US Constitution. I know the squealing to come from this - “he doesn’t mind violating the constitution” so just save it.
The Constitution clearly states - THE PRESIDENT - and they will be trying a PRIVATE CITIZEN - not a president.
“”The Constitution gives Congress the authority to impeach and remove the President,1
Vice President, and all federal “civil officers” for treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors.””
I’m not calling anyone a Nazi. There are limits to obeying orders. That is all.

What limit do you suggest? Start disobeying lawful orders because you don’t agree or have some pet peeve? How quickly do you want to unilaterally disarm?
How many Article 15s and courts-martial do you want to conduct, and is there enough room in Leavenworth for all the military that would be imprisoned for what some civilian armchair type has deemed an ‘unlawful order’ based on watching various Hollywood movies and reading cheap novels?
How many years did you serve to come to that conclusion?
Ease up, hero. It’s a brand new day. I made myself clear.
Yes you did, and its obvious you never served; perhaps, along the way, you will be granted the opportunity to join the other hater that was kicked yesterday.
You are either uninformed or you are an idiotic fool!
The choice is entering the service. After that, you have no choice, follow orders, “Yes Sir, No Sir, No excuse Sir!”
What’s on your DD-214?
Apparently, you have misunderstood what I said or I did not communicate clearly what I meant.
It seemed to me that you were saying that orders are orders, NO MATTER WHAT. If Nancy Pelosi tells the NG to machine gun American citizens, orders are orders.
Is it possible that a soldier may be given orders that are unlawful? If so, obeying those unlawful orders would be wrong and is not a defense. That is what the Nazis claimed, and was rejected as a defense at the Nuremberg trials.
I certainly didn’t mean to say that any soldier had been given an unlawful order yet, or had done anything wrong AT ALL. I was merely addressing what I thought was an overbroad “orders are orders” idea.
So if I gave that impression, It is my fault, and I sincerely apologize.
If Nancy Pelosi tells the NG to machine gun American citizens, orders are orders.
—
There in that sentence you show us all that you do not know what you are talking about.
Nancy Pelosi is not in their chain of command. She can not command any US military personal to do anything.
“orders are orders idea” is nothing I said - your 2 cents or someone else’s
And then, you are on to Nazi comparisons - always a losing argument. Everything you say implies that somehow American troops are next to rotten and Nazis in waiting.
You young people need to understand that while you have never served in the military, many of us here have. So when you spout off about various and sundry military philosophies, you are talking through your hat and it shows. Next time you wish to say something about the military, do so after you’ve served a few years.
