CALGARY (660 NEWS) – Alberta Premier Jason Kenney says his government is “deeply disturbed” by U.S. President Joe Biden’s decision to kill the Keystone XL pipeline expansion project.
Kenney said the move was a “gut punch for the Canadian and Alberta economies” and that the new U.S. administration should have consulted Canada before taking the decision.
“...Let’s be clear about what happened today. The leader of our closet ally retroactively vetoed approval for a pipeline that already exists, and which is co-owned by a Canadian government, directly attacking by far the largest part of the Canada-U.S. trade relationship, which is our energy industry and exports.”

HERE WE GO... I’ve changed my mind... the next few years may be fun. We’ve had it so good people did not even know how good they had it. Wait until the pain starts.
Just tell Canada “it’s unity stupid”
Luckily, intelligent people in Canada have been planning for this (no thanks to Trudeau). XL/Keystone isn’t really needed by Canadian oil suppliers for the near future
The Transmountain pipeline to Vancouver is running, and a 2nd and 3rd line are already being built. Enbridge has doubled its capacity running east.
Moreover, Shell-Petronas are building a $C40 billion natural gas terminal in Kitimat BC. It was meant to become operational in 2023, but is delayed because of Covid.
When its completed - Western Canada will be able to ship EVERY DROP of LNG and gas liquids to Asia.
Sorry USA.
“it’s unity stupid”
Biden doesn’t call us the Unity States of America for nothing.
When oil prices start going up, the shit will really hit the fan.
The typical analogy for many years has been the frog in the pot of water which slowly comes to a boil. Doesn’t even notice how things are changing.
In contrast, with Biden’s time in office, I think we went full Thelma and Louise — that car is straight off the cliff. I hope everyone enjoys the ride.
Restoring international relationships bump !
They already are ...
The payment isn’t big enough yet................
Isn't that how it was done against President Trump?
Are the Republicans back to caving at the first sign of resistance? Are they going to sit back and watch Democrats undo the gains of the last four years without even matching the Democrats' methods of putting up a fight?

Ping.
of note, there are certain American indian tribes that have a vested interest in the Keystone Pipeline, too. Awaiting their response...
In the meantime, here’s Canada’s First Nation response:
Alvin Francis, chief of the Nekaneet First Nation in Saskatchewan, who said such a move would be devastating to Indigenous peoples.
“If news of President-elect Biden potentially pulling Keystone XL’s presidential permit is true, I want to fully express how devastating this would be to my community and others across Canada and the U.S. who are benefiting from the Project...” (quote from Washington Times)
Trudeau would quickly agree that the pipeline should have this gap remaining, all in the name of “unity”. Trudeau and Joe should get along famously.
And maybe the USMCA treaty could be revisited, just to change a few things here and there.
I am rooting for Canada to embarrass Slow Joe. Yay, Canucks!
YEP! “You asked for it, you got it” is going to be a handy phrase to use!
So between this and re-joining the Paris climate crap, we should start seeing $5/gallon gas very soon. Everyone will be THRILLED about that, I’m sure.
Ha ha ha. Day 1 and dopey Joe has already started a war with Canada.
You ask for it, you got it, Toyota.
When its completed - Western Canada will be able to ship EVERY DROP of LNG and gas liquids to Asia.
So basically Canada will be a wholly owned subsidiary of China Inc.
