Nelson Co. GOP leaders censure Senator Mitch McConnell after floor speech saying Capitol riot was 'provoked' by Trump

McConnell's speech prompted Nelson County GOP leaders to hold an emergency meeting, voting unanimously to issue a resolution censuring the senate majority leader for his comments.

"This has shown his true colors," Nelson Co. GOP Chairman Don Thrasher said. "We felt today during his floor speech on the senate where he impugned the character of President Trump was unacceptable to us. His whole behavior overall through this whole process of the last week is not consistent with what he promised us when he was running for re-election."

McConnell hasn't said how he will vote in the second impeachment trial of President Trump, but has said it's a "vote of conscience" and will be based on facts. But in light of the impending impeachment trial in the Senate, Thrasher has also proposed a resolution calling on McConnell to vote to acquit Trump.

"Basically calling for Senator McConnell to support President Trump and denounce the second impeachment as divisive," Thrasher said.

"I have at least 50 other chairs and vice chairs that have signed on for our resolution," Thrasher said. "this is a deal-breaker for a lot of Republicans."

Kentucky's GOP central committee will meet for a specially-called meeting Sat. Jan 23 to discuss and vote on the resolution, introduced by Thrasher. There are over 300 members, which included county GOP chairs and vice chairs, as well as all Republican elected state officials.

So when does the “Ditch Mitch” movement begin nationwide?

After all, he can always get a job with one of his family’s/wife’s family Red Chinese shipyards as a human anchor. /sarc

What this all tells me is that in the USA the President of China has more power than the President of the United States.

We are now a satellite of China because they own our politicians.

He did so reluctantly

This is very hard for Rush in his final weeks or months

I feel for him

He’s an hombre

Going out with his boots on

Rush has skirted with we’ve reached politics by other means territory

Something I know he fears

Mitch needs to stand down.

Over the last four years he passed up opportunity after
opportunity to move our agenda along. He couldn’t have
cared less.

So I urge him to step down. No need to make a big stink
over it. You’re older than Methuselah in donkey years
anyway.

Go gracefully.

I would have to look for it.
I am sure I heard Mitch saying this last week. Not a peep from the GOP at the time. They were way too busy washing their hands of Trump or not saying anything period.
Mitch has been throwing a lot of
poison
in Trump’s general direction ever since Mitch’s dear wife resigned her post after the ‘situation’ at the capitol on Jan. 6.

The 17-A (ratified in 1913 under guess hwho), forcibly removed states previous Constitutional Republic rights.

Progressives (principly fabian Socialists) in the Federal Government used the “democracy” argument, to essentially crush 125 years of previous state congresses ability to pick, and arguably hold accountable, their federal representation in the House and Senate.

It was a slick leftist trick.

Additionally, 14 Senators have been expelled from the federal senate - all Democrats except one (Blount), who had been a member of both sides of the isle.

We will never know now, but it seems plausible the original intent was for the states to be able to recall or punish betrayal sedition, and treasonous behavior and efforts.

This is an opportunity for EVERYONE to send a message to their county level officials. Following is mine, slightly edited. Feel free to modify and use yourself:

Dear Sir or Madame,

I understand that the Nelson Co. KY GOP Committee has voted unanimously to issue a resolution censuring Senator McConnell for his recent statements attacking President Trump.

I also understand that the Nelson Co. GOP Chairman Don Thrasher has in addition proposed a resolution calling on Senator McConnell to vote to acquit President Trump should a Senate trial be held.

I support both these actions, and as a property owner [or description of your choice] in [your county] County, request that 1) The [your county] Co. GOP Committee duplicate the Nelson Co. GOP Committee's actions, and 2) Publicly and privately call on all other [your state] County GOP Committee's to do the same. Senator McConnell's recent comments have at the least been rash, premature, dangerous for the country, and are not holding up well as more information comes out about the events of Jan. 6.

If you wish, add:

Further, in regard to your local website, I suggest that when posting links to videos containing information, evidence (such as last Jan. 6), analysis, etc., someone take the time to find the original source video on YouTube. Then post the link to THAT, rather than the link to some online publication that wants my e-mail address to see or hear the entire video.

And / or:

Last, I politely but firmly request that my e-mail address NOT be used for solicitations or political mailings of any kind, other than a response to this message. I already receive 10x more junk mail than I can possibly read, and more will simply annoy me. Thank you!

Mitch lost the Senate by not considering the president;s proposed amendments to legislation before the Senate, in particular the $2000 aid for citizens in the midst of a huge pork bill for special interests.

That was just enough to make a few Republican voters to stay home and so the Republicans lost the Georgia run off.President Trump went o Georgia and campained there for the GOP.

Mitch lost the Senate by his own perigrinations, the door was wide open for Mitch to win Georgia, and he refused to walk through it.

Now Mitch is having a cancel culture fit. What Mitch is proposomg, the impeachment trial of a President no longer in office because he cannot be controlled by Mitch and his elotist quisling colleagues. President Trump is being punished because the elitists are afraid of Donald Trump because his power rests in the People, not in the laps of special interests and their prk mongering lobbyists.

Mitch McConnel needs to go. So do Schumer and Pelosi. all who seek to destroy government for and by the People.

Kudos to Nelson County. May they continue with a recall by law suit or otherwise.

Difficult to kick someone out of the party.

We have a big tent.

We don’t have rules in place terminating someone’s party membership. Shoot, in many states, ‘party membership’ is dictated by state law.

One can choose to associate or not associate with any party at will.

There are not even any party dues.

But we can remove someone from our party leadership positions. And we can refuse to endorse them.

This is a significant act.

Members of the House and Senate are federal elected officials. There is no recall provision in the federal Constitution.

With the second bogus impeachment in the books, the Washington Post has finally seen fit to admit that President Trump did not incite the storming of the U.S. Capitol on January 6 with his speech, acknowledging that it was, in fact, planned in advance.

The article, published Tuesday, the day before Biden’s inauguration, declares in its headline “Self-styled militia members planned on storming the U.S. Capitol days in advance of Jan. 6 attack, court documents say” and opens with the following paragraphs.

Self-styled militia members from Virginia, Ohio and other states made plans to storm the U.S. Capitol days in advance of the Jan. 6 attack, and then communicated in real time as they breached the building on opposite sides and talked about hunting for lawmakers, according to court documents filed Tuesday.

While authorities have charged more than 100 individuals in the riot, details in the new allegations against three U.S. military veterans offer a disturbing look at what they allegedly said to one another before, during and after the attack — statements that indicate a degree of preparation and determination to rush deep into the halls and tunnels of Congress to make “citizens’ arrests” of elected officials.

U.S. authorities charged an apparent leader of the Oath Keepers extremist group, Thomas Edward Caldwell, 66, of Berryville, Va., in the attack, alleging that the Navy veteran helped organize a ring of dozens who coordinated their movements as they “stormed the castle” to disrupt the confirmation of President-elect Joe Biden’s electoral college victory.

Turtle is my senator and unfortunately we do not have that option. I hope I get solicitation mail from him just so I can send it back telling him where he can shove it.

That might not happen though since because of Turtle I finally left the GOP over a week ago for the 1st time in 35 years.
