WASHINGTON (SBG) - As we pass 30 million vaccine doses distributed, Dr. Anthony Fauci says masks and social distancing aren’t going anywhere any time soon.

“You can’t just say forget, no more public health measures,” said Dr. Anthony Fauci to The National Desk anchor Jan Jeffcoat.

He also addressed when the public will be able to get back to some sort of normalcy.

I could see this the first week or ten days after you get vaccinated, but not later than that. It takes time for antibodies to develop in your body. You don’t magically have 100% immunity the moment you get the vaccine. At 30 days after the first shot, you should be about 70% immune on average.

You could have been sick when you got the shot. You could contract the disease a week or two after you get #1. But, after you get #2 and you are up to 90% - 95% immune, what’s the point of wearing a mask?

Of course, big picture analysis of states with strict mask and lockdown rules vs those with more lax rules shows no effectiveness of either at stopping the spread.

In the real world, yes, these vaccines will be effective. COVID will be far less of a medical issue than the Flu. That doesn’t matter, not if they can create a more useful narrative by pretending that “if it saves even one life . . .”
