Tech giant Apple is reportedly being sued by a Washington nonprofit group in federal court that is demanding that the company remove the encrypted messaging app Telegram from its app store.
The Washington Post reports that a Washington nonprofit group called the Coalition for a Safer Web has sued tech giant Apple in federal court. The lawsuit, filed on Sunday, demands that the chat and social media app Telegram be removed from Apple’s App Store for failing to crack down on extremist conversation on its platform following protests at the U.S. Capitol on January 6.

16 Feb 2017: Chicago Sun-Times: Obama back in Chicago for first time as former president
By Lynn Sweet
Obama had four meetings: One with community leaders on the South Side, at the Foundation’s Hyde Park offices, and three others relating to what will be a massive fundraising drive to raise hundreds of millions of dollars for the (Obama) Center.
Obama huddled with Chicagoans who have been his major benefactors, Jim and Lester Crown, and his former Commerce secretary, Penny Pritzker, and her husband, Bryan Traubert...
Former Obama senior adviser Valerie Jarrett said, “There was great enthusiasm from the civic leaders about the opportunity to work with the Foundation.
“Those with whom President Obama met have long and deep ties to the community,” she said. “It was important to the President to communicate how important they are to the success of the Center...
Obama is laying the groundwork for a massive fundraising drive to raise hundreds of millions of dollars for his Center, a museum, library and event complex.
Jordan Kaplan, who has been fundraising for Obama since he was a U.S. senator from Illinois, is the Chief Development Officer — or top fundraiser for the foundation.

Controversies
During Coffey’s term as editor of the L.A. Times, the paper published a lengthy three part series examining the claims made in Gary Webb’s 1996 “Dark Alliance” newspaper series. Webb had claimed that members of the Contra rebels in Nicaragua played a major role in creating the U.S. crack cocaine trade, using their smuggling profits to support their guerrilla war against Nicaragua’s Sandinista government. The Times series found the “Dark Alliance” claims overstated, but was itself criticized[by whom?] for using anonymous sources, taking government claims too credulously, and failing to pursue Webb’s story further.

free speech? only for them.
Was it Telegram or another encrypted messaging app that reporters were using to receive tips from Trump Administration insiders?
This is a civil suit against a private company. No "standing" required.
.
How do they have “standing” to bring such a suit?

I am not a lawyer but being paranoid is not legal reason to censor others.
I also doubt just owning a certain product is enough to demand a non-related business be forced to close.
Honestly, this is just the tactics the left have been using for years. As someone else mentioned they find someone to bring suit, a friendly judge, an agreeable defendant and they all get what they want.
Since the application is encrypted communication, should be interesting to see how they prove the application is being used in the way they allege.
Grounds for class action lawsuits. Too bad...all my stuff is Samsung. I haven't received such a notice...what triggered yours?
Dang...here’s another app I have to download before it disappears.
If you want on or off the Apple/Mac/iOS Ping List, Freepmail me.
Ginsberg asserts in the suit that Telegram’s antisemitic content puts him in danger and that his ownership of an iPhone gives him standing to sue Apple in federal court to require that the company enforce its terms of service barring hate speech and incitement to violence on apps in the iOS App Store.
What a moron. It's not as though Kapo Ginsberg couldn't just initiate a boycott of Telegram. Nope. To the left, the joy is in the use of force.
PING!
I’d actually be happy to sign onto such a class action, if some enterprising lawyer were to initiate it.
What model? I have a note 10. did the update and it hosed mobile data (and a number of other setttings) I had to do a forced reset and reset my network connections. I’ll see if it works later today.
Forgive me if I don’t say. :-)
I did reach out to someone today who refused to comply, had two phones bricked, and just replaced them.
I’m not inclined to do that.
If a factory reset doesn’t buy me any time, I’ll go back to a landline and buy a dumb, cheap stripper model cell phone.
I don’t blame you. I guess I’d get a burner with pay as you go plan. Problem is I run a business off of this phone as well as my regular 40+ job and my rental property off of it. I suppose it will all go away soon with the Obama III Regime in.
But they are the only reason I don't have to buy an Android/Windows product.
STANDING for suit?
I was referring strictly to iOS.
Android is easy (but always had crappy touch keyboard)
Both Android and Windows are more open software ecosystems than Apple.
