Chao is an immigrant from Taiwan. I doubt she has any loyalty to the commies.
Dependent on the communists for dollars makes one side with them.
Her sister is on the Bank of China Board...
She most assuredly has loyalties to her father, who has loyalties to the CCP.
i thought so too, until t dawned on me that her family’s business Is totally in bed/dependent upon the CCP.
Now I wonder
There have been reports on these pages that many of her extended family are loyal; that alone would be enough to compromise her husband either directly or indirectly.
Chao is a daughter of the founder of Evergreen Group, a Taiwan company with extensive interests and relationships with mainland China.
There are a lot of Taiwan companies with interests and relationships with China. There is also a pro-China faction in Taiwan, mainly supported by big business interests.
Old man Chao was opposed to the independence-leaning (anti-unification) factions in Taiwanese politics.
The popular opinion in Taiwan is anti-China, anti-unification with China, but as in the US these are to some degree “deplorables”, as in the US.
Note also that Taiwan political parties do not map easily to US politics. The ruling party there today, the DPP, nationalist and anti-unification, are more like US Democrats on other issues.
