DuckDuckGo is proving privacy matters. The Paoli, PA-based Google search alternative, which prides itself on its privacy policy, hit 102,251,307 total queries on Monday, the first time it has exceeded the 100 million mark.
In November 2019, DuckDuckGo reached the 50 million searches per day milestone. So it took a little more than a year to hit the 100 million mark.

Doesnt DDG use Google for its searches?
Hope they have their own servers — or are scouring the world for friendly ones until they do.
Duck Duck Go is what I use. It will send you to sites that google intententonally won’t.
For example, it didn’t participate in massive hiding Hunter Biden incriminating evidence from searches before the election.
I thought I read they used Google’s data to create their own searches. If so, how long until Google puts up a wall to that data?
Yes, they do.
I’ve been using it exclusively since Goolag went fascist, but that doesn’t mean I trust it either. We will see.
Dump Scroogle!
I’ve used them for years and really like them.
amen!
I have been using “Brave” browser. Working excellent. DDG may use Google info but DDG utilizes different algorithms. Going with Brave over DDG at this time. Also trying out a TOR ONION browser as well with VPN.
“Duck Duck Go is what I use. It will send you to sites that google intententonally won’t.”
Very true. On a few occasions i did a google search for certain articles that were posted here on FR. I used the usual keywords for thecqrticle, plus the word “freerepublic”.
Instead, it provided me with links to all the usual liberal media sites such as cnn, npr, abc, msnbc, etc.
So i would do a search on duckduck go using the same keywords and the word “freerepublic”.
Bingo. Right from the top, Duckduckgo gave me the links i was looking for on freerepublic.
I’m a duck!!
i’ve been on brave for a couple years now
I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised to learn that DDG is owned by Google.
True; but you can bet that Google will sooner or later try to cripple DDG. DDG would be well advised not to rely ony any search software tha is connected with Google — even open licensed Chromium.
I’m using Dissenter combined with DuckDuckGo. Very happy so far.
To find info for my mom about the election, I Googled, “more votes than voters”. Google results specify “false”. I did the same in Duck and got the info I was looking for the very first hit.
“Doesnt DDG use Google for its searches?”
I heard that it does, but for some reason query results are different. Maybe each one has a different kind of filter for how they display information.
